I heard about “heat islands” years ago at the beginning of the global warming panic….. basically the amount of asphalt and concrete in an urban area absorbs more heat and less water creating an isolated region of slightly warmer temperatures. A “heat island”
But that was on the scale of larger urban CITIES…. Not baseball diamonds.

The only heat island I experienced was Long Island NY. Oftentimes, sailing off the north shore would have wind out of the north, then slipping through Plum Gut (where Lyme disease was created) and sailing the south shore would have winds out of the south. I must say Long Island NY is slightly larger and contains more tarmac that a baseball park. Actually, not a fan of baseball, but I’d think having a somewhat steady breeze generated by a heat island on a hot sunny day would be a good thing. I recall days sitting in Long Island Sound on my sailboat becalmed, then appreciating that onshore breeze once I got closer to the island.
