“Finally, does Gov. Healey have the power to require citizens to take illegal immigrants into their homes? After all, the “right to housing” is also a law. How far can Healey go to uphold that law? Thus far, state officials have elected not to answer those questions.”
We don’t have such a law in our state but if we did certainly the governor would have the option of enforcing it. I personally do not consider it a good law or idea. The majority of immigrants pouring into our country are people running from a bad situation. But there are many exceptions as no doubt the border states have found out. The smuggling of immigrants is big business controlled by the Cartels. I’m sure many a criminal see America as a hiding place to ply their nefarious deeds. I have a small shack on my property where I store stuff. If the government paid me $5k per month (the minimum I would accept) I’d consider the proposition. I’d want the family to be fully vetted of course but other than that I think I and my neighbor could take care of security.
It’s worth noting that the shortage of “affordable” housing is also tied to the federal government’s inability to curtail spending on social programs, a bloated bureaucracy, and endless military adventurism. That spending is, of course, largely financed with printed money, which devalues the currency and fuels inflation.
Then, in an effort to combat the inflation created by government, the Fed raises interest rates which drives the cost of housing by raising the price of borrowing (construction loans and mortgages). The current mortgage rate hovers around 7% today, up from the 2-3% from just a few years ago thanks to our fiscally profligate government.
Will the government qualify our homes to house these illegal aliens for section 8, food stamps, claim them as dependents for tax purposes? What happens if they start doing illegal stuff within the household like selling drugs, prostitution, raping our wives/daughters, or household gets taken over from within by gang activity. Will the original home owners get prosecuted, and get thrown in jail when prior to housing these illegal aliens, the homeowners were law abiding American citizens with no criminal records? Here Government LEAVE MY HOUSE ALONE! LEAVE MY 2A RIGHTS ALONE!
I’ve got an un-Insulated Tuff Shed out back w/ 4 large shelves, that’s $20K a month (@ $5K a piece) and if they tried a Hostile take over I’ve also got a Back Hoe! With a minor application of Lead I could house (4) more.
Keeping this up I could relocate to some fine beach front property in Delaware!
“THEY” have already removed a 94 year old veteran from a nursing home and replaced him with illegals. How long would it take after someone allowed illegals into their home for Healy to remove the owners altogether so the illegals had someplace to stay long term? Hard pass.
Nothing but “BRILLIANT IDEAS and SOLUTIONS” coming from these people from the Resident Joke BiteMe Deministration taking away our 2A Rights, hard earned future social security retirement income, and probably increases taxes on the backs of the hard working middle class, while the rich get richer with NO CONTRIBUTIONS to the cause. Remember that it says “for about 2 years” useless there’s need for an “extension”. OH YES, PREPLANNED CONTINUESS EXTENTION “INDEFINETLY”. Two years our @$$!!!
