I don’t have any routines I can think of. I do try to not sit with my back to the door when I go to a restaurant or bar. When I do go to a restaurant or bar it is usually with others that are gunners so we get a table big enough where nobody has to sit with their back to the door.

The part of the island I live on is two blocks wide. If someone is tailgating me I turn off either early or late from my house. If they follow, I drive back towards the bridge off the island. No one has followed past that point, but if they do, my plan is call 911 and drive to the Police station.

Now if I had that Mustang with a snake on it, things might get more fun

Confession Monday, my bad habit is wearing head sets/ear buds with music on, outdoors; Although seldom, I know it’s risky. Once a large bundle of tree branches fell right next to me after storm; I had felt the air, turned around to see it. Close call.

I do have a bad habit of taking the same route going to work or back home after work. I have been taking that same route for so long I can recognize when something is out of place, or a vehicle is following or just going the same way.

I chose the route I take simply because it avoids the bottle necks that form on the major thoroughfares around town. There are also numerous other side streets I can travel if needed. Having a 4WD vehicle is also an advantage for the curb climbing ability if required. Been there. Done that. If you don’t like how I drive, stay off the sidewalks.

I manage the basic same routine to and from work but there is a catch. I am situationally aware of my surroundings on my way. I occasionally take little off the regular route stops if there is any questionable situation I need to verify. Knowing how to properly follow someone without them knowing is a great skill to have as well as, knowing when you are being followed and being able to lose them. If they have done their homework they already know where you live but if it is a on the spot follow, then losing them without them knowing that you know they are following you is golden. An important tool to have is always being where you need to be for self-defense and tactical dominance.

Learn at young age in the 60’s from my father WWII vet. I asked him why we always went different ways going and coming from the same locations. His statement was basically ,“you never know when there might be an ambush”. Although he used much more colorful terms.

I change it up occasionally. Usually between surface streets and freeways.

I also vary how I leave and return home. Front door, side door, back door or garage.

Keep ‘em guessing.
