Well, there’s a lot of money for this sort of thing…in the infrastructure budget. Makes sense, right? Think I got this right, just found my favorite gun tube rationalizer posted something on it.
Is the CDC redefining “mass shooting?”
I love well-researched statistics but if parameters are fishy,
Garbage in, garbage out.
CDC needs another project anyways, seeing as covid is in the rearview…
Let them research, maybe we could assist and indoctrinate them in the ways of the BILLOF RIGHTS in particular the “shall not be infringe” part! Research away, knock yourselves out!
Maybe more extensive research in regards to gang violence, drug addiction, cartel affiliations, victimhood, wokeism and the family unit!
I’m no doctor but guns don’t kill people! People kill people!
Re: gang violence. State news today,14 year old inner city youth shot and killed. Left behind a 1 year old son…now that’s an interesting study, that doesn’t fit the agenda and will be swept under the rug.
Just watched the video I posted. “What did I do to make my gun not violent?”…are you kidding me? Our tax dollars at work, folks…
You would think the CDC would have better things to do, than to just avoid the reality of people kill guns don’t!
However after watching how badly the CDC has performed on the COVID issue, its possible that the CDC might come back with something that actually favors gun ownership.
Maybe the CDC could spend some time and let us know if the COVID infected illegals that the Dems are letting in are causing more RISK to actual tax paying Americans?
It is my current opinion, in light of recent reports elsewhere, that:
This is a calculated twisting of the purpose of an agency where, the government agency would so distort the concept of violent behavior, that it then becomes a biological threat, and therefor, can be said to fall within the sphere of influence of the CDC, - and eventually, under the authoritative powers it has access too. Attempts have already been made to create a president for bringing the 2A under a legal structure and protocols designed for other purposes. Doing so, in this case, would provide excuse to take actions under CDC guidelines that are not possible or legal otherwise. Such actions would, of course, remain illegal and unconstitutional, but we have seen where plausible sounding excuses are sited as reason for circumventing the protections guaranteed to citizens under the law.
If your not allowed in the front door, and can’t get in the back door, and the windows are all locked, then I guess you just try to squeeze in through the pet door, or take a sledge hammer to widen the mail slot. All the while paying no attention to the fact that you don’t belong inside that space in the first place.
I should think that at the present time the CDC has much bigger, and more urgent matters to attend too, than to consume the time, attention, and resources on the effort of injecting itself into a politically contentious arena in which it does not rightly belong.
As the Afghanistan disaster so clearly illustrates however, right thinking on such matters does not appear to be in use.
Maybe the CDC could do a study to find out how many criminals who use guns in the committing of crimes are USCCA and/or NRA members.
Why do I have the feeling that number would be very, very small. Can anyone say “probably zero”?
Many years ago, the CDC studied “gun violence”. They defined the criteria that constituted what qualified as “gun violence”. Then they carefully cherry-picked incidents that would advance the conclusions that would bring forth their desired results. While I have no proof, I would almost bet that their new study has already been written. All they have to do now is find those incidents that “prove” their points. Their “guidance” on Covid-19 has been illustrative. A series of"do this and we’ll be fine", followed be a series of “oops, now do that 'cause this didn’t work”. Keeping in mind that the CDCs budget is controlled by Washington, and Washington is currently controlled by anti-gun politicians, is there any doubt what “conclusions” they are expected to deliver?
I fully support any study into gun VIOLENCE.
Just make sure to note how many felons use guns to commit crimes and how many times legal gun owners commit crimes.
(Yeah, that study would never see the light of day)
I know how this study will go, and they’re wasting our money doing it. The news in a few months will be, government agency study finds guns are bad. Lawmakers are now drafting policy to combat new gun violence findings.
There has been an undercurrent of "public health " as an argument for gun control.
Look how easily they had most people willingly wearing a face diaper and berating those who resisted.
How about study of destruction of nuclear family and its effects on public health? Or would they rather study if using the word family is a microaggression.
CDC is a necessary institution, but its leadership need to be thrown to the garbage heap of incompetence and politics.
The CDC has a long and sordid history with gun violence studies.
Ironically, Obama in 2013 gave an (executive?) order to the CDC to “conduct or sponsor research into the causes of gun violence and the ways to prevent it” to much fanfare among anti-gunners. Guns & Ammo (link) reported that $10M was allocated for this research.
The report that came out of this was the frequently quoted study of studies that suggests we have between 500k and 3million defensive gun uses per year. Previously celebratory anti-gunners went notoriously silent.
I have exactly zero problems with gathering more data on gun usage. That data should include suicides, criminal usage, and also legal usage. However, I see no reason that should be the CDC doing the research especially considering their decades long bias from upper management. Calling it a public health crisis just doesn’t fit any reasonable logic. It may need to be split among several different agencies. The FBI, for example, has a ton of data on criminal usage including mass shootings which seem to get the most media attention, but suicides are out of their purview.
Yup, talk about letting the fox in the hen house.
Well I’m sure they’ll be Just as “scientific” with these “suggestions” on how to respond to said violence as they were with their “suggestions” on how to respond to a virus.
Off all the studies that have been. I still gather that it is not the guns but the finger on the trigger. Have all these PHDs, MAs, and even BAs. But still no degrees in common sense
Hmm, remember the Tuskegee Experiment by the CDC? They had to stop that in 1972. Tuskegee Study - Timeline - CDC - OS
Sorry CDC, I just don’t trust you. AT ALL.
