Can I conceal carry at a nursing home facility in Indiana? If I’m visiting someone. They might not like you to. But can you, of course it would be out of sight.
Not sure nor do I care, but would this be a public or private nursing home? Are there signs posted, and are signs referencing a statute?
I’m not an attorney! And NONE of my expressed opinions should EVER be considered legal advice!
Does the facility have a no firearms sign posted?
Does that signage carry weight of law in your area?
If no guns signs aren’t there, carry on.
If the signs are there, but don’t carry weight of law, carry on, concealed is concealed. (Unless you have to pass a metal detector). IF your weapon is noticed, they have to ask you to leave before they can call the police to have you trespassed off of the property.
Check your local laws, and consult with an attorney before taking any unreasonable risks.

You cannot carry a firearm within 500 feet of a school

You cannot carry a firearm on commercial or charter aircraft

Other restricted places
Other Areas
Casinos
Penal institutions
The State Fairgrounds
Horse tracks
Shipping ports controlled by the Indiana Port Commission
Child care institutions run or overseen by Child Welfare Services
Any place where the carrying of firearms is prohibited by federal law
You should be aware of “No Firearms/weapons” signs when moving around with your gun.
I carry based upon necessity. There are not a great deal of threats to be found at a nursing home, except maybe grandpa suffering from dementia and going after you with a cane, even then you should be able to out walk him. I would just secure it in my vehicle, conduct my visit and then re-arm in the parking lot. Easy, and it negates any “Questions” by staff. However, if you feel compelled to carry, and the facility does not forbid entry with weapons, it would seem that you are good.
Yes you can. Whether it is legal or not I can’t say. If you are conceal carrying you are conceal carrying so nobody will know. If somebody does know that you don’t want to know, you are not conceal carrying. It is our 2nd amendment right.
Be careful, in Utah Psych Wards are restricted, they’re supposed to have secure lockers for people to put their firearms in before entering the Psych ward area. So if they have that kind of treatment at the facility you are going to they may have restrictions.
@Kenneth114 It’s best to have someone contact the home facility to see what gun policies they have for visitors with permits. More than likely, may not be allowed to have it on you inside the facility. Otherwise, may be ok to have your firearm locked and secured inside your vehicle.
There is certainly no law against carrying in a nursing home in Indiana
Signs do not have weight of law in Indiana
I don’t know what makes anyone think being responsibly armed is illegal. The way I see it is if there is no metal detectorr I have my constitutional right to protect myself and those around me. We are only making it harder for ourselves if we don’t stand up for that right. It makes no sense for me to think I am doing something wrong by trying to save lives.
The many laws that make it so
Who isn’t standing up for that Right?
If our constitution says we have the right to be responsibly armed the laws can’t take that right away. The laws are illegal. If we are responsibly are is it our responsibility not to obey those laws.
The people who are obeying the illegal laws.
If they didn’t want me to have a hand gun they would make it obviously clear they didn’t want me to have a hand gun. What they don’t know won’t hurt them. Nor do I want to hurt them. When one looks for the beauty in life, everyone starts to look beautiful.
