Car or bedside storage

Any recommendations for bedside or car storage safes?

Lifepod? Stopbox?

biometric yes or no?

Looking for some recommendations and hopefully some experiences to act as a guide

I use Vaultek safes for both indoor/vehicle for storing ready service pieces, they are the keycode/key lock types. Not a fan of trying out biometric safes in the environs of a vehicle (temp swings, dust, etc), but I have one for my pistols / revolvers in the home.

On my dresser….

At one point in time when I was dating my now ex wife, she thought it was a good idea to “goose” me in my sleep to wake me up.

I was deep in REM sleep, being chased by some kind of thing,….

She grabbed my ass, I grabbed her arm and threw her across the room.

Totally unconscious movement!

I’ll keep my pistol just far enough away that grabbing it is at least a conscious decision!

As for in the vehicle, Colorado allows for a loaded pistol in the vehicle as it’s an extension of our castle doctrine.

If I have to leave it unattended (not allowed to carry at work) I have a “console vault”

One thing I love about colorful Colorado.

Note to visitors from California: lock your pistol before leaving your car :face_with_open_eyes_and_hand_over_mouth:

As in woke up soaked in sweat with my adrenaline running 1000%? Then yeah,….

I’ve definitely had more pleasant dreams than whatever that was that day!

I use a biometric safe located right next to me but on the floor very easy access. No problems at all. My Dad (1936 - 2020, Korean War Era Vet - served in Germany) kept his pistol under pillow too. Pretty sad for the reason - my constantly hard illegal drug half brother.

I understand it’s not for everyone. In my youth, I was a sleepwalker but haven’t had any issues for more than 30 years.

For accessibility with added comfort, an option is to turn safety on.

This thread reminds me, I need a new travel safe before January, for a 5” with optic, light, knife, and flashlight.

Make sure you’re wearing your Colion America with the bullet for the “I” and a USCCA t-shirt to make sure you scream “I’m transporting a gun” without making a sound! :joy::joy::joy:

You kind of echoed my concerns about under the pillow, being too groggy to make a quick but rational decision. Even a vivid enough nightmare could trigger a tragedy. I guess the ideal is quick access but with a few seconds to sort things out in your brain. If you take something like Ambien, even more so.

Open nightstand drawer by my bed.
Holstered when I’m vehicle. When holstered is a problem, like getting out where carry isn’t ok, locked in glovebox.

I completely understand why folks lock em up at home, the myriad justifiable reasons like children, possible theft, etc.
my wife says no firearms in the bed. I know which side my bread is buttered on - I comply.
However, I’ve never beef comfy putting myself in a situation where I have to unlock anything to get my firearm in the middle of the night if needed.

Just us, no kids here. Not concerned.

Outside the home different ballgame. I’m frequently in school zones and will use my glovebox, as I’m not LE.
