CA moves to outlaw USCCA & NRA Shooting Insurance

I’m a Californian too. 68 years here. 40 as a cop. I can remember California when it had great roads and freeways and had just about the most highly rated public schools in the nation. I’m not getting into the gun law thing. What’s been lost is sad.

Dawn, on motivation, I’ll agree that innocent (but completely misinformed) motives may be at play for the average Moms or other semi-grassroots organization member. For those in political office, I don’t believe there’s any innocent or as worthy as protecting people as a motive. Gun control is people control, plain and simple.

… yes, history does show that gun control is people control (in MY opinion).

I want to believe that people are good and are motivated to help others - I was raised to help others so I really want to believe in people being good and helping others. I know not everyone is - I’m not that naive - I’m just hopeful.

Very interesting thoughts from a guy who lives in CA with a CCW: Why California CCW holders probably won't help with an active shooter - YouTube

He says he will not defend others in an active shooter situation because the state will destroy him. CA is messed up.

The Gunguy is right on target about the reality in CA. As I have written here before all the retired cops I know in CA (and that is a lot) that carry have the same policy of protecting themselves and their families PERIOD. Cold and perhaps incomprehensible to some here. Watch the video. He explains the reasons well. Things are different in Free America.

Tough call for those who can’t leave the state.
Not so tough call to get the lefties out of office. The power is in the vote. I think some have given up the fight. Beat down, by wealthy politicians, who have all the armed Protection they need. This is not the America I fought for.

California has become one of the worst states for Constitutional infringements. Their politicians allow criminals to flourish and demonize the righteous, and honest citizens. This is what will become of all America if the DemoSocialists are allowed to seize power in America. These politicians are committing treason against the citizens of California.

Why would anyone continue to live in this state?

The 9th circus has made some of worst decisions I’ve ever heard. Many not even based on the law! I’ve lived in Oregon my whole life and I’m old, so I’ve seen a lot.

If republicans regain control next year and Trump is reelected don’t be surprised if the 9th isn’t broken up into 2-3 new circuits with a host of Trump appointees balancing it all or even tipping the balance back towards some sanity so there is hope.

Now THAT would make sense! That worries me, because common sense is not very common anymore.

There are something like 70-80 million people living under the jurisdiction of the 9th circuit in 15 different districts and really the number of districts needs to be doubled to cover the load. The population has more than quadrupled since the last time the 9th was modified so we’re well past time.

The left hasn’t wanted it broken up because the court tends to lean so far left but that’s not the kind of representation our constitution guarantees us.

https://www.ca9.uscourts.gov/judicial_council/what_is_the_ninth_circuit.php

It also flies in the face of the equal protection clause since that court is so often so far out of step with the SCOTUS and the other circuits.

A lot of us have chosen to go elsewhere. I think the answer to “why” is varied. For some folks it’s because that’s where their family is, and their family won’t move, so they’re choosing family over rational government and free exercise of their constitutional rights. For some, I think they haven’t been personally subjected to the consequences yet. For some, I think they simply haven’t woken up yet.
And for some, it’s because they’re getting exactly what they want out of that government - it’s working to their advantage. They’re the ones who voted for it in the first place.

I totally agree, WildRose. Long overdue.

For some of us, this is home. It is where we grew up, it is where our roots are, we have family, friends, histories here. The American way has never been to pack up and run, it’s been to stay and fight. I’ve been and lived all over this country, seen some beautiful places, but this is home.

I think that generally people are good and that while they had good intentions, there are several missteps with the gun laws here. I don’t like all the slander our people here get, nor the red scare nonsense of communism and its oft confused socialism. I appreciate very much the social freedom and protection granted to minorities and everyone here, and it’s a reason I stay. I will continue to use my vote and voice to speak to my reps about my concerns about 2A.

I’m Hailey, I’m a gun Owner, and a Cali girl, and this is my home.

@Hailey I know @KenM is planted there for family reasons as well - he and my hubby and I come from close to the same area.
Some of us retreat to higher ground, some stay and fight there. If my hubby and I can ever help you and @KenM with the stay-and-fight part, consider us in, just not by putting our feet back on that ground again. And if you decide to retreat (or escape), Missouri will be glad to have you.

@Zee You’re awesome, thank you so much. I love reading what you’ve been able to do there in Missouri. Thank you.
