Buffalo NY and more people have died, due to Hatred

With the news of the animal torture it sounds more like this guy was a classic budding serial killer who decided to exercise his urges by jumping on the white supremacist/terrorist/active shooter train instead of doing it one person at a time.

I don’t mean to sound unsympathetic, but the reality is that no one should feel safe.
Ideally, yes, I want my children, my family, my coworkers to feel safe. But that feeling of safety leads to complacency. It also leads to stupid laws and policies that make people less safe. It creates the kind of conditions that are exploited by nefarious people. Feeling safe can make you less safe.

That said, people reporting such feelings to MSN.com are probably living in the bubble that makes them feel paranoid to begin with. Fear sells ads.

I agree with you, and you have given me information that explains the issues with MSN.com
and any other news and social media that is on the market today. You do not have to go
on the internet to find these problems. I call it living in a fantasy world, living in a closet to feel
safe, running into a bomb shelter every time lighting and thunderstorms come up. Maybe look
for shelter for safety from a tornado or too. Been there, but there are sometimes you can not
run anywhere to find safety.

I enjoy my training of 6 years with USCCA, and they are the best to work with. Common sense
is needed and a good education, but the crap on social media is a nightmare, keeping it clean
here.

Thank You!

I don’t know whether this is self-evident, but the people living in the Fox “news” bubble are also being sold nonsense which breeds paranoia. Fear sells ads, power, and politicians. Seek truth, not confirmation.

Yeah, we’ve had several conversations on this forum about the problems with our sensationalism-based news industry.

Fox news is not right-wing, but they do have commentators that are, though not all of them.

Pennsylvania has conceal and carry. Obviously, if more people took advantage of it this would happen less, irregardless of the mayor’s political party.

Please don’t tell me it is Tucker, or Jesse Waters. Judge Jeanine? Maybe.

It kind of sounds like you are making the argument for why you believe we should have even stronger red flag laws.

Heh… Good one. Lots of folks will be glad to have the straight dope on that, I’m sure.
And MoJo is not left, right?. Should be a way to work these concepts into a standup routine.

Frankly, I don’t care about the viewpoint of a news outlet. The perspective and its effect on presentation is usually obvious enough.

I do care about accuracy and honesty. Twenty-five years in, the Fox brand is damaged goods on that scale. Doesn’t matter if they happen to get a fact correct once in a while, or if some part of the organization is better than another. There are too many credible sources facing in many ideological directions to waste effort looking for Fox pearls.

What is MoJo? Is that a reference to The Power Puff Girls? My daughter watched that as a kid… MoJo JoJo…

As I stated, their news is not “right-wing”. I never stated it was accurate. I do not watch news, I was forced to listen to it in the airports (CNN), but I do not watch FOX News, either. Sadly, there aren’t any reliable news sites. There may be a few that are less biased in their reporting, but depending on one’s viewpoint, one could claim that the reporting is biased. Like reporting “mostly peaceful protests” as rioting, looting, arson, vandalism, and assaults on police and innocent passersby.
