Boys Rifle

How to produce more good guys with a gun?

“These rifles were heavily marketed through mail-order catalogs like Sears, Roebuck & Co. as safe, affordable starters for young shooters, often referred to as a “Boys Rifle.” This is something that would likely be looked at with pearls firmly clutched, but I happen to think it’s a marketing practice that needs to come back with full force. Kids are the next generation, and sometimes the newest current generation of shooters.”

And in the process, educate their parents as a byproduct.

If you’re getting your children interested in using firearms safely and most importantly accurately, I suggest everyone look for an NRL 22 organization that holds monthly skills tests with firearms. The only requirement is a good attitude and a Bolte action 22 rifle. Even if you’re an adult, you will learn so much about discharging a firearm safely and accurately that even a 60-year-old will learn something new.

Thanks for the info. The link didn’t work but I was able to get it from Savage. Now, I need to buy a bolt action 22LR. I once owned a Savage .17HMR when there was 22LR ammo shortage. Bolt action is fun!
