Not looking into the holster when reholstering?

Here’s a pretty good quick list:

In other threads we’ve talked about being in the proper place in your lane at the range. There are ā€œbelly up to the barā€ folks, but they’re wrong. This shoots all of their shells at their neighbor and risks their neighbor if something goes horribly wrong. There’s a reason that safety glass is between lanes…

Been there felt that too many times, the worst was a guy running a full auto AK, a couple shells found their way into my hoodie.

I still remember and old guy telling me that I was doing it wrong, insisting that I move up. No way. Why would anyone launch shells at an armed guy next to them? lol

you are absolutely right :+1: following safety rules is very important, otherwise you put yourself at risk and others too.

Slide bite, when semi auto completes all its rounds and the slide locks back to let you know it’s empty, sometimes the slide can cut your hand.

Slide release levers and loading mags can cause thumb/finger blisters or cuts from the repetition, always use ā€œspeed loadingā€ devices.

Revolvers, the cylinder can spit out hot gases, thus we keep our hands away from it.

Some revolvers’ shape cut into a hand, depending on brand or model.

As much as I like the Glock brand, mine was picked up new around 2021, but I find the repetitive trigger use will begin to hurt my finger, like a needle is poking during the pull. So I mix it up with my other models to give the Glock finger a little rest.

As I’ve a ā€œwhite collarā€ type of job, I don’t have much callus build up on my fingers.

Some prefer to use gloves.

Loudness of the shots can take their toll on ā€œhearingā€, not sure if doubling up with both ear plug ins with overhead muff head set helps - but I go double; Some prefer outdoor ranges for mitigation.

Avoid lead poisoning; clean up immediately afterwards, no open drinking containers or snacking during range activity.

Have your own ā€œwoundā€ first aid kit and tourniquet in your range bag.

Some are concerned about brain concussion over time, that repetitive use can negatively affect the brain. Hence, preferring outdoors or suppressors.

Nice post.

Wiley X are the best sunglasses in my opinion for shooting practice or regular gun training, they won’t disappoint. I have personally been using a pair for about 1.5 years, and they are also quite affordable.

that is good to know, durability really matters for training gear.

The downside is that they can’t be worn comfortably over prescription glasses, due to their wraparound design. So four-eyes guys like me are out of luck.
