You are welcome.
This is the first place I go once I’m interested in new handgun.
I’m late to the party here but I bounce between two EDC pistols.
It all comes down to concealability and round count.
I’m not fat but I’m not skinny either… I have a bit of a gut.
So the only place I can wear without printing too much is at my 2:00.
I use a Shield Plus for daytime carry. It’s thin and doesn’t print too much.
Also, it allows me to sit without too much trouble.
At night, I wear a Glock43X MOS closer to my 3:00.
I use SA 15 round mags.
I find that having a variety of holsters helps a lot.
Whoop whoop

In a topic as subjective as this, I tend to think in terms of “what is the product that is the hardest to go wrong with?” instead of “what is the ‘best’” if I’m brand new to the practice. If I’m a salty old veteran of the scene, then I may have more specific recommendations based on a specific user. For the broadest audience possible, I’d say that pistol brands and models that are most frequently in common use of police forces may be a good measuring stick for “hard to go wrong with.” Designated military sidearms are also designed to support a wide variety of shooters in various conditions. Flagship models from Glock, CZ, Canik, Sig Sauer, and others can claim that, so you’ll have some choices.
It’s also worth considering if OEM replacement parts are easily sourced, aftermarket parts or accessories are readily available, and manufacturer endorsed gunsmiths are easy to find for a first carry pistol. It sucks to get a new weapon just to find out that it’ll take 14 weeks to get those extra OEM magazines manufactured and shipped from the factory instead of just picking up a few at the local range, or that there is a small manufacturer defect that only the factory can easily fix instead of Joe Bob from the sporting goods store down the street, or that the holster brand you prefer doesn’t have a stock model that fits your nice, new handgun. Not that you can’t get something custom made, but after you’ve already spent hundreds of bucks on the pistol itself, it’s tough to spend a premium on a custom holster while every Glock in the world has 20 holster brands that make a holster for every model in the lineup for the last 3 generations, and they do a perfectly good job at around a 50 dollar price point.
Fortunately, there are several brands, sizes, and models that can meet most or all of those constraints in subcompact, compact, and duty sized arms. There are some clear cut favorites in each category too.
I have kahr pm9s and a Smith Shield for comfort carry. Course, just like almost everyone, I have my Glocks. Extra mags and 2 extra recoil spring assemblies for every model. My old Dept authorizes M&P, Glock and Beretta 92 in 9mm and HK .45 for active duty. I use same 9mm ammo. Federal HST 147 grain.
Glock 48. It’s their slim-line version (along with 37x) but unlike 37X it has a longer barrel. Easier to conceal and shoots like a dream.
I don’t need another gun.
Love my Sar. Comes with customizable grips to fit your hand as well.
