i was carrying in my bank when one of the people came and said that under federal law banks are gun free zones. When I challenged her saying they are not a federal property, she made the claim that they are by an umbrella clause. I was going to challenge that as I had no idea or not.
(I carry concealed, evidently not that good on this day.)
I am curious to know if that is true and if not what would be the best way to advise her she is miss informed. I will honor the request and keep it in the car, just hard to do when one is depositing large amounts of cash. I run a Gold and Silver bullion store, hence the large amounts of cash.
I do not believer her, I also think that would be something that would have been something covered in the CCP/CCW class, or any of the legal seminars on gun laws.

She was throwing BS at you, but she may have actually believed what she said; if so, she was not lying.
What really matters is a combination of state law, bank policy, and signage at the bankās door. In some states, a no guns sign means you are only breaking a bankās policy; the most they can do is trespass you if they know you are carrying. In some other states,
signage carries the weight of law, and you could be breaking a law by carrying past the sign. And in a third situation, some states make violating the sign a crime IF the signage meets specific criteria for wording, language, size, etc. Texas is in that third category with their famous 30.06 sign law.

Best advice: as you noted, carry concealed, and remember concealed means concealed. And donāt get into arguments with the hired help. If their sign does not meet the state law requirements, DO NOT point that out. They will just fix the darn thing.
The statute covering carrying in a āFederal Facilityā is here:
18 U.S. Code Ā§ 930(a), specifically:
āExcept as provided in subsection (d), whoever knowingly possesses or causes to be present a firearm or other dangerous weapon Federal facility other than a Federal court facility or attempts to do so, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than 1 year, or both.ā
The term āFederal Facilityā is defined as under statute as: āThe term āFederal facility means a building or part thereof owned or leased by the Federal Government, where Federal employees are regularly present for the purpose of performing their official duties.ā
A bank is often a federally chartered entity, but a bank building is not typically a āFederal facilityā unless there are federal employees regularly present for the purpose of performing their official duties.
That said, itās not worth getting into a pushing match with anyone who tells you to leave because they saw your concealed carry firearm and believe you are forbidden from carry there. Doing so will just invite the cops to the building to sort things out, and thereās nothing good that will come of that. Leave the building. They donāt want your business. Take it elsewhere to another bank that does want your business.
