ATF Pistol Brace Ban Could Be Imminent | USCCA Blog

On December 18, 2020, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) issued a notice that it’s currently evaluating pistols with an attached stabilizing brace to determine whether these should be subject to the National Firearms Act and/or the Gun Control Act. This could potentially lead to gun owners having to register these guns as NFA firearms, remove the braces from these firearms and destroy them or replacing the barrels of their firearms (16 inches or greater for a rifle or 18 inches or greater for a shotgun). Ouch.

All responses must be provided within the 14 day period, lets see, again violating their own law on the rulemaking process, comments must be provided within 90 days according to the gun control act, even if responses are received before the deadline, the ATF is not going to consider responses from the public or bushiness, because they will say that responses where not received in time, so of course this is how they are going to say, this is our ruling because we did not receive comments before the end of the 14 day period, and this is how it’s going to be, we don’t care what the people say, The tyrannical ATF is just like any other law enforcement agency, federal or local, they make up their own laws, because they don’t know what the law is.

i was in the market for an AR-15 5.56 10 " barrel with arm brace. Is now a really bad time for this purchase? what is the probability of the ATF making such a move?

I just tried to comment electronically on the regulation.gov website and the site indicated comment period closed on 10/30/2020. Looks like it will be via snail mail.
