Anybody in the same situation jamming issues

I HAVE A UTAS XTR 12. JUST GOT IT LAST MONTH TOOK IT TO THE RANGE ABOUT TWICE THE FIRST TIME EACH ROUND JAMMED AND WOULDNT FEED OR THE BOLT WOULDNT CLOSE ALL THE WAY …THE SECOND TIME I TOOK IT IT SMACKED EACH SHELL AND HAD NO JAM BUT ONLY TOOK 6 SHELLS WITH ME THAT TIME AND WAS USING HIGH BRASS SHELLS. DO ANYBOY ELSE HAVE ANY FEEEDING ISSUES OR PROBLEMS WITH JAMMING WHEN NOT USING. HIGH BRASS SHELLS
WHICH SHELLS DO YOU SUGGEST
AND ANY LUCK ON POINTING ME IN A DIRECTION I CAN FIND A MAG FOR THIS THING?

Is that the one that is picky about shells?
I remember reading somewhere that it will only reliably use Winchester Super Handicap 7.5 shot.

“They recommend using 1&1/8th Oz loads when shooting birdshot, or anything 1250fps.”

Might want to check the fingers on the bolt.

Are the bb/slug weights the same in both rounds? Velocity difference? High brass/low brass shouldn’t make much difference as the propellant charges are very similar between the two.

Also, what happened to the bottom of that bolt :eyes:

There’s some. I’d definitely make sure the store is legit before I spend monies. Lots of scam sites these days.

How many shells total have you run through it, only 6?
Reason I ask is it may take a box or so to get it broken in.

Just throw some Winchester xperts in that bad boy and let er rip… They spicy. I’m kidding, kinda… It may just be really picky. I’d take a couple boxes of whatever that was that ran, and see if it likes more than the six you fed it. I have a recoil driven A5, that in it’s old age, is picky about what it wants. Shotguns, like anything else, are goofy sometimes.

I’m no shotgun expert and know absolutely zero about mag fed shotguns. But when I picked up my tube fed semi auto for skeet shooting it was recomended to me to shoot 25 or so high power turkey loads to break it in before I tried using any target loads.

Your issue sounds more like a feeding problem than a cycling problem but maybe some break in would help? Also after my break in period I had zero function problems until I tried some very cheap Walmart special Winchester target loads. A couple of those wouldn’t feed and/or eject properly. I think some of the shells were slightly misshaped. Which reminds me. I have read that some people who have left the box magazines loaded with shells for a period of time have had feeding issues because the shells got a little squished by the pressure of the spring.

Ain’t that the truth . I checked em out they are in New York but only take zelle or chime payments . Which I never heard of a site handling business that way

Well the first time I took it out I blew about 15 to 20 but it was jam master jay.

When I took it out again I was just testing out the high brass loads and each one smacked and recharged with no problem.

I’m still I still gotta break this thing in
Just don’t the bcg to eventually break which I heard that happens a lot on heavy loads

The only thing is I bought it used so it’s no telling the condition it was really in when I got it . I really like it though besides the jamming issues I have had it’s a pretty neat conversion gun

Can’t go wrong with Winchester

Those Winchester’s are extended reach waterfowl loads. A little more costly than something like five or target loads, but they cycled my Weatherby when it probably shouldn’t have. They push 1.25 oz around 1600 or 1700 fps
