Anxiety About COVID-19 Fuels Worry, Causes Panic | USCCA

The coronavirus — COVID-19 — is causing personal hardship and wreaking havoc on the economy of states and localities across the U.S. At this time, the medical toll of the virus has been relatively minimal in our country, but the measures taken to slow the virus — or “flatten the curve” — have had substantial impact on our day-to-day lives.

I can only assume that this will play out over, and over again, and become more volatile as the restrictions continue, or are tightened.
Panic will turn into desperation.

I was just having this conversation an hour ago. I was and am more concerned about peoples actions and reactions than I am of the virus. The last thing we need is for someone legally carrying a weapon to loose it and make a very poor decision to escalate whatever situation we’re in. Ladies and gentlemen WE are some of the most law abiding individuals in this great nation. Let’s be models of calm and reason in the face of adversity and advance not only our cause for the 2a but our positions as ROCK SOLID citizens who can be counted on to do the right things. Let patience and our love of country bring us together.

Nice to meet you. My name is Caleb. Our country needs to start coming together during this one. This pandemic is brutal and our country hasn’t even see the worst of it yet. It’ll get worse before it gets better. The question is how bad? That’s the scary part.

Dawn, that is insane what happened in Ohio but I can believe it. When times get hard, people do get desperate especially if they have violent intent. They don’t even have to shoot their gun. All they have to do is present it as a means to intimidate their victim into complying with their demands. That’s why it is so important that we as armed citizens practice situational awareness to the fullest and have every I dotted and T crossed when it comes to preparedness. I carry multiple weapons when I can’t carry my firearm.

I’m extremely fortunate to live in a very tight knit community. We don’t all hang out but in this rural location everyone steps up for a crisis. I’m in agreement with you and the US citizens need to step up for this one.None of us will be unscathed by this in one fasion or another.

I find that too be very true especially in small communities because everybody knows each other or is interconnected through people they know.

I’m nervous to be honest. I’m a single mother of two boys and live alone. I’m glad at this point I’m licensed to carry and can protect myself.

Tina, welcome. It’s scary times, but given you’ve proactively taken steps to protect yourself and your family, I’m betting you’re going to do better than 90% of the population.

Glad to have you here, @Tina4! If you’re at home with your boys due to social distancing, this may be a great time to train and teach them about firearms (age appropriately).

Let us know if we can be of any help!!

Tina I understand how you may feel but try and think of only positive thoughts and speak to your friends of your concerns. Try to work out potential problems in advance and how you would respond if X.Y.Z happens. Also surround yourself with the people you know you can count on. If your children are old enough? Discuss your ideas with them and if their too young try your best to be the face of calm for them. Our younuns can accept alot more than given credit for especially if the see their Mothers/Fathers adults acting calmly but with purpose. Feel free to reach out here if you’re feeling overwhelmed or just need an ear. Lots of solid folks here. Welcome to the community.
