When I see particular firearms - like my posting today about Starr revolvers - your only recourse is to shake your head, and imagine what could’ve been. Two other guns I’d like to see resurrected are the Savage pistol and the Model 99 lever-action rifle. Their pistol was designed to compete in the 1911 trials against Colt’s, but lost out - other smaller versions were produced for the civilian market in .32 and .380. The 99 was offered until 1991 - I believe - and chambered for calibers up to .308 Win. - it was a really sleek, elegant design. I’d like to see state-of-the-art versions of these, but today’s manufacturing costs are a definite killer. FYI

When I was 16 I hunted with a Model 99 in .32-40. It had been in my family a long time already.

Funny… I got my AR-15 because of nostalgia.

I’ve been knocking out my nostalgic “wish list” for years, and I’m pretty close to owning them all.
Guns that I lusted for in my youth like Savage 99, Winchester model 88, Colt Python, Winchester 1897 shotgun etc now have fine examples that live nicely tucked in my safe.
