I’m the same but lately weekends are especially crazy and I’m leaving the house and changing from comfort clothes to church clothes. I also can’t carry at work during the week, but I would like something easy to throw on when I walk the dog in the evenings. Most the time I’ll be iwb but I’ve got some scenarios the bag might be more convenient for. Main thing holding me back is training another draw stroke, but the convenience may be worth it plus this particular set up, I would still have my iwb holster, so if I start the day off in gym shorts, I can still put it on a belt when I dress up later.
I carry in a fanny pack a goodly amount of the time owing to work attire being scrubs, so it looks more natural. That being said, you have to do a lot of looking around to find a bag that’ll work for you. I’m not happy with bags in general, hard to draw from and get on target, hard to practice because of damage to zippers, once you’ve opened the bag and drawn, you immediately lose access to reloads, lights, etc. I look at fanny packs as useful if no onther method is going to work. My criteria are - How sturdy are the fittings (belt clasp, zippers) for retention purposes, fit of the firearm (is there ventilated back, foam padding), and exterior should be leather (my reference) or least something that doesn’t scream “tactical, please steal me”.
That fanny pack looks well made for it’s purpose plus more. Bet you’re going to like it and can’t wait til you get back to us once you try it out. I like it just by looking at it although I’ve not ever wore any type of fanny pack, but this one surely caught my eye.
I like it. Pros and cons. I think it will help me carry in certain situations. I haven’t actually carried with it yet but I’ll use it this weekend and see if I end up carrying more.
First impressions
Pros:
Well made, is working as advertised for me, I like it let’s me use my kydex holster. (I feel much safer and confident with using my holster with this set up.)
Cons:
more complicated draw with more potential for failure. Zipper not opening all the way, bag sliding with draw. HOWEVER, once I adjusted gun placement and practiced with it for a few minutes I had no issues. I am very confident with it. I’m glad I went with a high quality product, this is definitely a product you do not want to cheap out on.
These zippers seem really good. I’m really just noting potential for failure. I’m not worried about them. The company has some maintenance videos where they recommend putting some silicone grease on the teeth after a while.
You get what you pay for. I’ve had backpacks from Walmart where the zipper breaks after a month, but I’ve had two backpacks that were good quality and I never ran into any issues.
Placement of the firearm does matter. I got the small model and the 43X is probably hitting the max size for this set up.
The 2nd pick is after pulling the tab quickly without issue.
I’m a big fan. I’ve used this all weekend (my weekends are crazy) I’m gonna easily use it in the evenings when out with the kids and dog.
It’s really comfortable to drive with. I’m actually carrying in my house because I moved it to the fanny pack position for sitting.
I’ve used the open tab many times and it works great. There’s not a lot of room for stuff in my front pocket, but that’s okay. I’d rather the smaller bag. If I ever move to an optic for edc I’ll need a bigger bag, but I’m still not there yet.
Only real question is how long will it hold up. It has a 1 year warranty. I have a feeling it will outlast that though it’s good quality. If it lasts me an over a year and has wear I’m concerned with, I’d just buy another one.
I could see this as a good option for women too. Maybe get a large one, small gun and use it as a purse when going out.
Really really like this bag. Just FYI there’s YouTubers with discount codes too.
