So I recently got a 43x mos. I really got it to upgrade from my current 43x to a red dot and also have duplicate of my carry gun.
I had no intention of putting a light on it… but now I see the rail… I did some quick reading on it and came up with the TLR 7… but it protrudes a good amount from the gun. Some people online say this is actually an advantage in close quarters because the light could be pressed into an attacker without interfering with the slide.
then there’s the issue of size. I like the 43x length for carry because it doesn’t poke as much.
I also don’t know if I like retention on a light in a holster. In my mind this means the trigger ended up in a big open space and could potentially be more likely to get debris.
I’ve always been in the boat of my carry gun doesn’t need a light… but they can also be cool…and unlike my stock original 43x, I’m doing some basic upgrades on this one.

Mine has a TLR-7. I use a custom kydex Werkz holster. Thought I would hate the protruding light, but now love the setup. I must be the only person here completely satisfied with one holster, one 43xMos with a light & green dot.
I must admit I would like a 5 more round capability (OEM) and have been considering a Shadow Systems CR920X Elite for that purpose. With Green dot and light it will still fit in my one holster.

I doubt that will happen after their recent Model V drop.
I’m more comfortable testing out the PSA or shield arms. They’ve both been out awhile now and are on gen 3s

I carry a G43. Have a TLR-6 with green laser and they also make it for rail applications which works with the 43x. I believe they also make it in a light only. It adds no length to the firearm and Tulster and Concealment Express make holsters for this, as I’m sure many others.

I’ve decided to hold off on light. I don’t want the extra room aiwb. 43x works for me, I just want to upgrade to an optic.

Clarification to what was said above. Carried the TLR-6 for a good 6 yrs. Last year upgraded to the TLR-6 HL which is much brighter and has a rechargeable battery system. This is the one I’m recommending.

It gives me peace of mind and it’s one of the primary reasons that I bought the light that i have on my firearms.

The need for a light while carrying concealed is likely very near zero. May have application in a home invasion, but the 43x is probably the wrong weapon of choice for that event. Get a light when you buy your full-size home defense weapon.
