43X, 48, or 19

So y’all think, even though the 48 and 43x can take 15 round mags, the 19 is still better?

I do like how easy it is to get glock mags. M&P mags are around the same price (I’ve seen them fluctuate occasionally), but they always carry a smaller stock and they are harder to find. The Glock mags are always in stock and reasonably priced at my local sporting goods store.

I think the 19 is the better deal unless you really need the thinner gun for concealment or because it fits your hand better. The 15 round mags for the 48 are not made by Glock. Maybe they will prove to be as reliable and durable over the long haul, maybe they wont. The 15 rounders by Glock for the 19 are rock solid and reasonably cheap. But you can also get Magpul Glock mags in 15 and 21 round flavors in the $10 to $12 range. They are great for practice and have been totally reliable for me. I really like the 21 round size for the range and if they continue to prove their reliability I may even switch to them for home defense.

Just kidding. :innocent:

Which one can you find in your area, @Scoutbob? The store stock may make the decision for you if the money is burning a hole in your pocket

So I’m leaning towards the 19, but I wouldn’t mind a thinner carry gun either out of the 43x. I think I could carry a g19 easy aiwb. Wish I could get a good look at a 48, but I don’t see those in stock. The 43x and 19 are pretty regularly in the case right now.

Have you checked out the Gen 5 Glock 45? Frame like the G 17, with the smaller G 19 slide. Very tempting. I fondled a G17, 19, and 45 today. Really liked the 45.

I’ve heard great things too. I do want something comfortable to conceal carry though.

That being said I’ve been carrying a full size M&P pretty regularly, so may be able to pull it off. The M&P grip doesn’t seem as bulky though as the 17 grip.

Yeah, the difference is less than half an inch in height, but you only get 2 more rounds with the standard mag. Kinda torn between the 19 and 45.

Only a woose would get a 43. Hour should save your money and buy micro 1911 like a Kimber Micro Raptor. Kimber America | Micro - Pistols

Yes. You’ll appreciate the slender size of the 43X / 48 when you’re carrying it, but you’ll appreciate the meatier grip of the 19 when you have to draw and use it.

In the 19 you can run magazines up to (and including) a full drum magazine. And the 19 comes standard with 15 round magazines, so there won’t be any fiddling with aftermarket magazines.

Again: the 19 has been around forever, and there’s a nearly endless supply of holsters and such for it. Which isn’t to say that the 43X / 48 are bad options; they simply don’t enjoy the ubiquity that the 19 does.

@BayouKid Excuse my ignorance on the Glock platform, but won’t the 19 also shoot the G17 mags? I know it would stick out from the grip, but wouldn’t it work?

@Fred_G Yes it will. Just keep in mind that certain Gen magazines only have the release cut outs on both sides. This is a Gen 4 magazine

I also use the Magpul 10 round magazines that stick out a little bit.

Yes, @Fred_G. You can run 17/34 magazines in the 19 and 26. Here’s my 19 with a 17 mag in it.

After carefully reviewing your options I would go with the Wilson Vombat 1911
