Will it make things worse?

Gun racks in the back window of a truck was common… and held rifles, shotguns and fishing poles…

It was not ‘what might we run into’ but more … hunting season…

and in some areas, bears are more common.

That would not be Constitutional.

We have a right, government should not interject itself in any way…

Are you saying most people will comply? They can afford the risk of car jacking, home invasions, business break ins? what do you think the risk is of the average citizen being stopped and frisked? (not picking on you) But from reading the responses by non gang member citizens in Chicago getting a weapon and taking it with you is a higher priority than getting shot.
I am just postulating based on the number of people that have CCWs and LTC now in many states. I have not once in who knows how many years had anyone let alone a officer stop to see in I had a weapon. I have many friends that don’t bother with a CCW because it is just a small fine and most times you just get a warning. I think I might resist complying if it came down to it. I guess it depends on the attitude of the local law enforcement.

I will give you an example, when I first got a pocket pistol it was because of a Preacher friend of mine that stopped a rape out in the middle of a field near his home one night. Some officers from the SO arrived and the criminal complained that a gun had been pulled on him so he couldn’t flee. The Officer asked the preacher about it and sure enough he had a Beretta Bobcat he kept in his pocket. He wasn’t arrested and the officer told him the next time the story was, the gun was uploaded in his car and he retrieved it before confronting the suspect. he was told to apply for a CCW but he lived in a county that did,t issue. To this day he still has that Beretta.

I would like to add in the part of Texas I live in I would still rather take my chances with a Jury.

Larry, have you seen the level of stupidity that ends up as the 12 jurors? Anyone who ends up on the jury is too darn stupid to get out of it!
God have mercy on you if you really believe that.

Truth is stranger than fiction.

Did you read what I wrote afterwards? Was Obamacare constitutional?

My point was Republicans never do anything but chase after Democrats. They’ve never been able to actually shift anything in our favor, only slow down the left. Because the left constantly promotes absurdity, constitutionality be damned. That way, when they “compromise”, they get exactly what they want.

For me as a conservative the republicans are a horrible representative for conservative values. I have to hold my nose when I vote.

Yes, Kennesaw GA did respond to Morton Grove IL…

A year later, crime remained virtually unchanged in IL, but had dropped in GA.

I remember this… but still do not agree with government involvement. I do not want the government telling me I can not have a firearm and I do not want them telling me I must have a firearm.

If you put your trust in Republicans you might find you are going to lose…

Most Conservatives are Republican, but most Republicans are NOT Conservatives.

Both Democrats and Republicans run towards the left… they seek the same destination, only by different routes…

I would still pick a jury pleading guilty to a lesser charge admitting I committed a crime l truly feel I did not commit. Is just not in me.

I have been on several jury’s and have dodged several others. Setting in the jury pool can be quite interesting :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Yes, I think “most” people will comply with whatever the law is. Are you saying most people ( > 50% ) will go buy an illegal gun and carry it around everywhere?

When I was young, I got selected for a jury. I was interested in the process. Right after the jury was selected, the parties settled. Now with my strong Conservative values, belief in our Constitution, our inalienable rights, firearm ownership, and 2A activism, it is unlikely I will be selected for another jury. Now thirty years later, I was recently notified that I am part of a jury pool. It will be interesting to find out if I will get selected if I am chosen to be part of the selection process. Some type of lottery system is used and I am on call for only one day, wherein I call the evening before, and if chosen I have to show-up at court the next day. After that, the notice states that I have no further obligation. My understanding is that most trials and mundane and boring, you don’t get an OJ trial everyday.

I think the numbers will be skewed as most of the covid first time gun owners will comply. It will touted as a success and other gun owners will feel the social pressure to turn their’s in. After that it will be impossible to know what percentage gave up their guns

@Harvey I believe that @Sheepdog556 has a valid point. I don’t believe many of the people in my state carry with a LTC for example. At least no more than do carry with one. I was also around for the last magazine band in California and not many turned in their AK and AR magazines. They kept them at home I am pretty sure. The same thing happened with the assault weapons ban. People simply hid their weapons.

I am not saying that a great number that don’t have guns now will go out and get them. There are compliant people everywhere. What I am saying is if one side can get thousands of basement dwellers out on the street to loot, march and burn down more than Two Billion dollars worth of our cities with no constitutional backing for their actions I believe people that already carry will more than likely continue to do so as the law and order part of out society breaks down.

I know a lot of gun owners today. I would say as an estimate 75 percent have throw away guns from the Saturday night special days. To me, maybe not to others, it says at least they have thought about concealed carry of a weapon they aren’t supposed to. This is just my opinion because of course I don’t have any weapons that could possibly be affected by gun restrictions. And that is my story and I am sticking to it.

I was selected 20 years ago. I went there and when asked the first question, I said, I’m conservative, and I believe in truth in sentencing.
I was dismissed.

Just to help understand my points about people keeping or even planning on using a firearm look at the gun purchases. My thought is if 17 million new firearms have been purchased because people don’t feel safe in their own communities. How many gun owners that already had weapons feel the same way. here is an article that points out two spikes in gun purchases, Corona 19 and Civil unrest. Americans have bought record 17m guns in year of unrest, analysis finds | US gun control | The Guardian

Add to the number of guns the increased amount of ammo that was bought. Does it sound like people are getting ready to comply? Put the two things together and I believe people are getting ready to defend themselves as communities are cutting back on public protection. REPORT: Vista Outdoors Ammunition Backlog Worth More Than $1B

This is part of my reasoning anyway.

Back around 1988 the city of Kennesaw, GA passed an ordinance that EVERY HOUSE HOLD NEED TO HAVE AND MAINTAIN A FIREARM IN IT. I also know that if SOMEONE WAS OPPOSED TO IT THEY DID NOT HAVE TO COMPLY. I lived in GA when it was passed. I also had a Suppervisor that live in Kennesaw and told me about not the provision about not complying to it as well. And that was because they were opposed to having firearms. And it was deemed to be Constitutional. And the crime rate in the city went down a lot because of this law too.

This is from back in 2018. Sounds little different now that we know a ChiCom spy manipulated this guy, doesn’t it?

It isn’t that shocking to me seeing how hard some are trying to turn us socialists. Dianne Feinstein has a Chinese spy working for her for 20 years. Can you imagine what he heard when she was on the Rules, Intelligence and Judicial committee? It is a nest of vipers isn’t it? Details Surface About Sen. I remember that… read about it at the time.

Kennesaw passed the ordinance in response to Morton Grove… or whatever it was in Illinois.

A year later crime was about the same in Illinois and had decreased in Kennesaw.
