Quite good discussion… but regarding WML on carry handgun - I’m completely opposite.
Yes, I do have it, but only to make the muzzle heavier and have better retention in the holster. Handgun shoots flatter and faster and (maybe it’s just me) more accurately. However I still prefer hand flashlight to ID the threat.

A handheld flashlight is generally better for general-purpose and identification tasks. A weapon-mounted flashlight is more specialized and typically considered for specific defensive scenarios, where training and safe handling matter a great deal. Knowing when to turn light on and off is key to flagging where you are while losing your vision at the same time. You want to have power over your vision while stopping the threats’ ability to see because you are his threat. Turning a light on in a hallway with no one there can reveal your approach and warn the threat of your approach. Not having a light when you have to shoot in defense will cause you to lose your vision, so a light would prevent that from happening. So, whether you want to hand carry a flashlight or have it mounted on your defensive weapon you need to train with it and practice with it.

Flashlight forward and away from my body , that’s why I’m not in favor of having it mounted.

Totally agree bean. Took a light and laser course many years ago and most folks use them wrong.
If I was a bad guy, I would shoot at the source. Something is holding it.
Even a light requires tactics.
