Why do you carry? ~ Kevin Michalowski

Lack of God in their lives at home and out in the world, a sense of entitlement, and access to the internet are all contributing factors.

Which God? You can guess my next comment and question. :innocent:

I’ve delayed a reply to this because so many have given the same reasons that I carry. For me it’s just part of my personality. To better explain, when I go offshore to fish, be it a day trip or multiple day/night, I carry what is known as a Ditch-Bag. I carry it regardless if it is my boat or a friends the ditch-bag goes or I don’t go. In it is my locator beacon, flares, strobe light, handheld VHF, a bottle or two of water, scuba safety sausage, etc. I carry this because should we have to go into the water because the boat is now 100’s of feet below us I want to make it as simple as possible for rescue to spot and find us. I want to be prepared to survive. All my vehicles have a form of ‘ditch-bag’, even the ATV’s. I carry simply because it is a most basic form of a ‘ditch-bag’ . That’s the best way I know to explain the why…

Back when I was that age, if we wanted spending money for clothes or anything else, we’d get a job. Between this and the mom trying to justify her son kicking a three y/o in the head in another video I wonder what happened to respecting the rule of law?

Inadequate response by state and local governments to stuff like this leads to more people seeking to acquire the means to protect themselves

I carry for self defense and peace of mind. Too many crazy people in the world and ignorance seems to be the norm these days.

I carry mainly because I’m an American. I also carry because nobody can tell me when I’ll be an attempted target for crime. The judicial system is releasing criminals faster than they can arrest them and most are looking for another opportunity to go back into the prison system.

To borrow a great quote, for me, I carry because, “It is better to have it, and not need it, than to need it, and not have it.”

I decided to carry a few months ago, as the decline in civilization has torn through the USA, and it is pretty obvious some local governments do not care about their citizens or their safety. I pray to god every day that I will never find myself in a situation that I would actually have to draw down and shoot. I will protect myself, my family and those around me.

Many, many blessings to you, sister. I, too, have been through things, which frankly, I cannot even speak of. However, those experiences made me stronger, hopefully wiser, and highly motivated to train, physically, psychologically, spiritually, and in every way possible. Thank you for sharing your strength, your wisdom, and your sheer determination.

I chose to carry for a variety of reasons…

  1. It’s my legal right to do so
  2. It’s my responsibility to protect myself and family not that of local, county, state or federal government.
  3. Current social, economic and political times.
  4. I would rather not be a victim.

To protect my wife, my family, and those innocent folks who cannot protect themselves that are near me. I am not looking for trouble, but refuse to let me and mine become victims. It is a right that any American citizen should be able exercise faithfully and with great care.

Guns are not new to me, I grew up in Montana where every pickup truck has a gun in a rear window rack. Even high schoolers. I had (have) a little single fire 22 rifle. I wore a hunting knife when I wasn’t in school. Most of my life, I’ve been armed in some fashion and aware of things in my environment that can be used for defense. As for firearms, though, mostly I had a pellet pistol I practiced with from time to time.

I reached a tipping point. I’m not as young as I once was. Things are getting weird, people are attacking and inciting others to attack just because you didn’t agree with everything they shout at you. At your business, your home, in a restaurant or store, or just walking across the street.

So my wife and I (and our friend) did some research, bought something appropriate, and got CPLs. We have airsoft replicas to practice in our backyard, and joined a pistol club.

In an ideal world, we’ll never once have to use them in an capacity except training. But better that, than to even once have to think, “s@#t, I wish…” There are just too many crazies out there to risk being unprepared. I lock all my doors when I exit my vehicle to fill the tank. We keep all the doors to the house locked at all times. I’m installing cameras with infrared. I carry concealed everywhere it is legal (screw Costco and Walmart’s “gun free, come shoot me crazies” policies, they are not the law), including and especially inside my home.

I’ll be more at ease when we in Washington state can purchase USCCA insurance. In the meantime, we have another insurance, and thank USCCA for allowing me to be here in the forum.

Because when violence is the answer – violence is the only answer.

As I’ve stated before, I started carrying because I gave out too much info and got a phone call at home from adherents of a peaceful religion saying “we will kill you”. Now I’m more worried about all the illegals that have crossed the border not giving a shyte about our country or its people.

For all you liberals out there that will need to change their Depends at this statement; we need a law/amendment/something to outlaw islame. When the adherents of it make being a religion the 5th definition it’s not a religion.
