Where do your rights to live free and armed come from?

This may have been asked before, however, I engage people of all sorts a lot about their concept of the 2nd Amendment (2A), the U.S. Constitution, “In God We Trust”, Faith, Beliefs Vs. Convictions, Biblical Miss-Quotes and clear understandings of the entire text and context of any Bible (God’s Word) references. IE - That it is our Christian duty to obey the Government. (There are a few instances were the Apostles refused to obey man over God).

My background:
I am a Born Again Christian, I have many flaws, I am not perfect, I sin, I get angry, I have served on a Special Operations Team in the military, I have PTS(D), I love my Country and hate my government, yes, hate the way it is administered.

I clearly see that my right to protect myself, and to bear ANY arms to do so, is God given, not from earthly governments, therefore, in my conviction, if the 2A vanished, I have the right to bear arms. As a Christian, I do know God’s Word very well, I read it daily - always. I am also convicted that God places governments over people and we should obey them - but NOT when these same governments do not rule under the authority of God, and that is clearly spelled out in His Word. Thus, our Founding Fathers placed that protection for the people with our right to Abolish the government.

Once the government no longer governs for the people, but only for themselves, it should be dismissed as outlined within the Constitution. But, as for the 2A, that will never be my source of my rights to bear arms. Never. I know a lot of what if’s will follow, just be levelheaded and not way off in the outer limits.

If this is not so, then what was the American Revolution based on?

Francis Schaeffer was visionary in this conviction.

My right to life, liberty and happiness (including my right to protect my life) come straight from my creator, God.

So does my second amendment, right. It is a covenant between God and his people, and we are all his people. Just us not them. :sunglasses:

Many people believe that the Bill of Rights – including the 2A – is the government document that defines our rights. That’s wrong, as the Declaration of Independence says,

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.–That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government

Rights come from the Creator, not from government. The Bill of Rights is a collection of restrictions on government to prevent infringement of individual rights endowed by the Creator. The Bill of Rights is not a declaration of individual rights.

The Bill of Rights only enumerates “natural rights” that the Founding Fathers believed were bestowed on humans by God!!!

The wheat and the tares are together, yes, but one day He will separate the Wheat from the tares, and everyone ever born no matter how, they all will take a knee before Him and will acknowledge Him as Lord of everything. God set a limit to man’s folly, the clock has been ticking for a long time in human terms, but for God, it seems like a single day at best. His Word is very clear, there will be no excuses on judgement day, the day I kneel, if the Father does not see His Son, His Spirit within me, then I will be cast away from Him for eternity, and I will never be able to change that judgement - after the fact. You “General” have today, maybe, if you are one of those “Some people…”

Many years ago, many people believed that the earth was flat, and were put to death for thinking otherwise, in truth, the earth was always round, did the truth change because it was proven that the earth was round, I say, no, for it was always round, it was always true that the earth was round and not flat.

My answer is: Not from other people.

That’s all that matters.

Those Rights and Liberties are not given to people by people. Whatever words a person wants to use to articulate that doesn’t make any practical difference whatsoever IMO. Religion this, natural that, whatever…being too specific here just opens the door to division and distraction from the main point

However, can’t the United States Government remove that 2A right one day, I think they have been trying for many years and may do so one day, correct? If not, then why do the very few send money to 2A rights organizations, that would be a waste of money, right? Because, if that U.S. right can’t be taken away, then why fight for it to stay? No, of course that right can be taken away by the very government because they are the very ones that afforded that right, therefore, in essence, it is a privilege as understood by those in power within our government. But all rights from God cannot be taken away, unless God Himself does so, no man can put asunder what God chooses to do or even not to do.

Why, if a convicted man, after serving his sentence in prison, therefore, paying his debt to society, and once released, own a firearm? I argue that he should be able to own a firearm, or then he has not served his debt? Therefore, after being reinstated back into society, his right of owning a firearm was removed. It will be these exceptions that we lead us all to lose our “rights” one day, chipping away so-to-speak, a death by a 1,000 cuts. If, you say that he is a convicted felon, then that hangs over him forever, and thus he cannot return to society whole? If the full sentenced has been served, why not fully reinstate him? Because if we do not believe then he can be returned to society, then simply execute him and be done with him.

I disagree that the 2A was ever a covenant with man.

Jesus Himself stated that not all are His, only those who do the will of His Father, the road to hell is very wide and many are on it. Sad.

You are absolutely right/correct. What I should have said/posted was it was inspired by G-d because of his covenant with man. Thanks for the heads up. IDK if it needs to be said that a 2A right is a 2A right and a covenant is a covenant.:v::purple_heart::grin:

Jesus also stated where two or more are gathered in my name there am I amongst them. I am not a Christian, but Jesus is my mentor. Yes it is sad and Jesus is among us. I think he wants to get as many off that road as He can. They say that road is paved with good intentions. I say the road to heaven is also paved with good intentions.

Because they are the ones. Who unlike the “quotation”, are provoking people, opening them to new ideas.

The 2d Amendment does not create an individual right, but is a restriction on government action, like all other “rights” enumerated in the Bill of Rights. Government actions are proscribed and limited by the Bill of Rights. The Bill of Rights does not create or define individual rights.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Anti-2A folks seek to empower government by limiting the restrictions on government. They are folks who start from the position that government will always act in the interests of the governed notwithstanding the moral character of folks elected to or appointed to government positions or employed by government, And, notwithstanding the rich history of governments that, when unconstrained, imprison and/or kill the governed on an industrial scale.

There will and has been times when people will kill Jews and Christians alike and believe that they are doing the will of God. Christian persecution is coming to America like no one has ever seen, I lived in 3 countries, visited 20, and fully understand that most Americans are living a delusional existence, they think meat and other foods come from the grocery store, that they have American rights anywhere on earth no matter what country they are in, Just as in the Day of Noah, lawlessness, homosexual sexual immorality, disobedient children, killing unborn children and thinking that it is woman’s healthcare - sick.
