This may have been asked before, however, I engage people of all sorts a lot about their concept of the 2nd Amendment (2A), the U.S. Constitution, “In God We Trust”, Faith, Beliefs Vs. Convictions, Biblical Miss-Quotes and clear understandings of the entire text and context of any Bible (God’s Word) references. IE - That it is our Christian duty to obey the Government. (There are a few instances were the Apostles refused to obey man over God).
My background:
I am a Born Again Christian, I have many flaws, I am not perfect, I sin, I get angry, I have served on a Special Operations Team in the military, I have PTS(D), I love my Country and hate my government, yes, hate the way it is administered.
I clearly see that my right to protect myself, and to bear ANY arms to do so, is God given, not from earthly governments, therefore, in my conviction, if the 2A vanished, I have the right to bear arms. As a Christian, I do know God’s Word very well, I read it daily - always. I am also convicted that God places governments over people and we should obey them - but NOT when these same governments do not rule under the authority of God, and that is clearly spelled out in His Word. Thus, our Founding Fathers placed that protection for the people with our right to Abolish the government.
Once the government no longer governs for the people, but only for themselves, it should be dismissed as outlined within the Constitution. But, as for the 2A, that will never be my source of my rights to bear arms. Never. I know a lot of what if’s will follow, just be levelheaded and not way off in the outer limits.
If this is not so, then what was the American Revolution based on?
Francis Schaeffer was visionary in this conviction.
Opine, and let’s keep it reflective and convicted.
