Where are the USCCA & NRA Instructors?

Washington State will not allow USCA to sell memberhsips in the state, becasue of the insurance status. However, you do not have to be a USCCA member to be a certified USCCA instructor. If you want to train using the USCCA content and curriucula, you shouild be able to maintain instructor certification while not joining as a member.

I was discouraged because of the inability to utilize the sight for what it offers the members.
The Covid shutdown did not help at the time too!

I just messaged a moderator about getting access to the instructor forum. If I am going to be open and honest I am a USCCA certified instructor but the NRA certification is looking appealing because of it is a lifetime certification. Being active duty military and a father it can sometimes be challenging to keep up with teaching classes to maintain my numbers, especially living in a northern state and having to teach the shooting portion in the cold almost half of the year.

Discouraged by whom? I have been using the USCCA site as an instructor for several years without also being a member. And I have gotten great support from the Instructor Support office

I guess I was the one responsible for that. With me working weekends, I was not available for classes when everyone else could attend class.

I feel as though I am not one for excuses, but I am sure thinking about all the excuses for this. I really like teaching and training people. I have been studying on methods of training drills that are multipurpose and evolving. If one drill can work into the next drill and bring you into the next drill each step will evolve into an overall drill.

I highly recommend you contact your original TC and look into re-certifying. I thin k it can be done with a recert session without having to repeat the entire course and big fee. Once you have that, take the Simplified Marksmanship online class ($147), which gives you a new sub-certification and new dry fire and range drills that I believe are a big improvement over more traditional range training. I just got that added, adn am looking forward to using the new drills. Read about the drills and structure with the $30
Marksmanship Simplified Book

You have to be logged into the Instructor Store (as an instructor) to get the online course.

Would love to hear more about your ā€œStart Upā€ business. I currently teach AHA BLS, First Aid as well as Stop the Bleed. I attend my USCCA instructor course next month and plan to add that to my offerings as well… BTW I am in New Braunfels Texas (just above San Antonio)

Hey Scott, just got my CCHDF with the USCCA. Just got my LLC set up, let tell you it’s not easy getting started. it’s costing me a lot of money that i don’t have, so it’s taking me longer that I thought to get up and running. And I haven’t even taught my first class yet.

Thanks, what state are you in? I already have my LLC for Patriot CPR and considering a name change to Patriot CPR and Tactical Training…

Check the LLC rules in your state. In many it is possible for a single LLC to do business under several different names, called either a DBA (DoIng Business As) or Fictitious Name. You may or may not have to register your DBAs to your LLC, but that step is easier and less expensive than changing the LLC registration or having mor ehtna one LLC.

Also, check with your accountant. Come income tax filing time, you can probably declare the LLC profit/loss on a Schedule C attached to your personal 1040, instead of filing a separate return.

Thanks Craig, solid advice

Oh yeah, I’m in South Carolina! That sounds good. The name of my LLC is Shepherd’s Allegiance Tactical LLC

Hi again,
For anyone with an LLC (or other types of business registered with your state) make sure to check into registering the BOI with FinCen.gov. It looks like it’s on again and the penalties are extreme. It really stinks and I absolutely hate doing it but it’s like $500 per day penalty. Check with your CPA or local SCORE and they can help.
