OK, I will amend my above statement. Truth be told here Mike. If your scenario
is in effect I will do what I have to survive. I wonât dance with the devil. If bat-sh-- crazy
or High on Meth (whatever) then the threat will DIE by my Gun! As I said above also
I am too old/disabled to âFloat like a Butterfly and sting like a Beeâ
So, I will just shoot their ass and Not risk a beating by a crazy/drug fueled psycho.
I will survive and risk the Courts and the Alvin Braggs of the world but I will be alive and
the threat will be down. However many âV-Crownsâ it takes for that attacker to go down is what I
will expend. Maybe there is a Go-Me-fund in my future?

Understand Mike. I am not a blood thirsty killing machine.
But when you go through what Iâve been threw itâs nearly IMPOSSIBLE
to be a SHEEP ever again. I am NOT unique here either Brother. Many have been
through worse, for longer periods of time, maybe even more dire circumstances.
The thought of being killed on a city street or by a fellow citizen is just nothing
short of MADNESS!. I never thought that I would have to be in code Blue/yellow
almost every time I leave my home. Or be so vocal about our current administration.

There was never a shortage of homeless or crazy these days but I never thought
entire cities (or maybe neighborhoods/Downtown areas) would be lost. Either gang violence
in Chi-town or Shooting galleries (of another sort) taking over major cities in California.
Whoâd have thought defecating in the streets would be common place? The Bowery (NYC) was

Pepper spray in the eyes physiologically impacts people.
It is good to have something that works beyond arms reach that falls in between words and bullets, and something in general that falls between an empty hand and bullets. The vast majority of assaults/attacks, after all, do not rise to the level of deadly force. If all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.
Watch some videos on Active Self Protection (ASP)âŠpepper spray very often works wonders at adjusting attitudes on all kinds of people

Depending on what they are high on (meth, acid, heroin, pcp), they wouldnât even know if they were sprayed or tased, or cut. Iâm with you, Iâm too old to fight too slow to run. I will not die to a thug so that they can have the keys to my house. Or my vehicle. Car jacked at my age would be a death sentence, depending on location. A punch or two from a younger stronger thug could be disabling. Car jacked at the corner gas station, they can have the car, itâs a short walk home. But not the keys to my house. My sidearm is a last resort, and my purpose is not to take a thugâs life, but I will do what I have to do, to protect me and my loved ones. That is the reason that I bought a firearm at 69 years old. In my younger, faster, stronger days I never felt the need for a firearm. But in todayâs world, at my age and physical condition, I feel safer with my sidearm close by.

When you say attackâŠwas a physical attack attempted? I read it as the man with the pipe following and yelling. How close did the man with the pipe get?
Using hindsight isnât fair I will grant, butâŠwith the intent of learningâŠdid any physical harm whatsoever come to the guy who was followed? How imminent was the deadly threat?
Is the conclusion that if you were in that situation, you should have shot the man with the pipe?
Also, just a general statementâŠpepper spray is useful and it is very good to have options (and options with range are best) between words and bullets

hmm.
Based on generalities I would agree, most likely that would seem to rise to the level of lethal force at that time.
Perhaps pepper spray in the eyes prior to that could have prevented pipe guy from getting that close effectively, butâŠno way to know for sure.
Fortunately there seems to be no injuries, this time, despite the seeming lack of a firearm or other defensive tool.

I talk to and deal with some of these âUnhoused Citizensâ in my day to day life. The two things that really sticks out to me are, How unpredictable they are. One day they are lucid and calm the next day they are delusional and agitated. The second thing is watching the deterioration over time. Some of the younger guy last year look like old men today.
Believe me when I say, You Do Not Know What They Will Do Next.

I think this is why having an option like pepper spray/gel is valuable. A lot of these people are suffering from severe mental health issues. More than a few are military veterans who came back from war with issues and were abandoned to the streets. Many should be institutionalized or in supervised programs. They definitely should not be allowed to wander the streets rotting away and threatening people.
I would rather not severely harm these people if I didnât have to. Pepper spray/gel may not always work but from everything I have read it works more often than not. If I felt someone had not yet fully committed to harming me but was presenting an imminent threat I might try my pepper gel first if they presented a clear opening to do so. But I would do so with the expectation that it wonât work so that I am prepared to immediately use whatever additional force is needed to defend myself.

Agreed and this REALLY PISSE ME OFF. None of those soldiers should ever be left out on the street. They have earned better than that. We celebrate box checkers of all persuasions but for some unknown reason we canât support our vetâs. Disgusting!
