20ga round in the barrel forward of the chamber.
What would cause a round to “implode” in a firearm and injure the shooter, as in this video example?
I also hear of 40 being fired in a 10MM ![]()

This definitely works, but would have to be a do or die situation for me to do it. My concern is the 40S&W bullet damaging the 10mm cartridge seating feature machined into the chamber.
I used 40S&W snap caps in my 10mm when I first got it rather than buying 10mm snap caps. Because the 40S&W doesn’t seat in the 10mm chamber, it is held in place by the extractor. Over time a piece of the 40S&W snap cap rim broke off and jammed the slide such that it could not be racked. Fortunately it did move forward for field stripping, the broken rim fell out, and all was well after that. I have 10mm snap caps now ![]()
I think it is always best to consult the manufacturer.
For routine training, I agree. Life or death situation, you can almost always buy a new barrel later.
I once had an ammo delivery that was damaged in transit (back when we could buy ammo online in CA). It was .45ACP and several boxes had rounds where the bullets were pressed farther into the case which can cause an over pressure situation. Gotta keep an eye on that COAL, especially if you see any damage to the ammo box.
I’ve heard of a similar thing happening a few times back when Front Sight was still around. They have people use live rounds to set up and practice malfunctions, which means you’re dropping live rounds on the ground. Depending on how it hits the ground, that can also cause the bullet to be pressed farther into the case, which leads to over pressure, and they apparently had one or two plastic handguns explode, which they assumed was from people using these rounds. I always kept a separate box of “malfunction” ammo, all rounds marked with a Sharpie, making sure not to feed that back through my gun. If you drop any rounds on the ground, check it for damage and check the COAL before using it; especially if you favor plastic guns.
I got a 380 mixed up with my 9s once but caught it while loading a mag. I said to myself oh Man!!![]()
Yep! Used to own a Glock 20. It had pretty snappy recoil. Right hand received some damage while on active. That extra recoil it had was a micrometer too much for my hand, 45 ACP is fine though. Double stack Glock isn’t a good fit for me. When I had it there was a shortage on the 10 mm ammo and folks were talking about 40 as substitute ![]()
