What are you reading/watching/listening to for fun? (not firearms related)

@NJStraightShooter that’s what we do too :). Except IMAX … that I’ll go to but otherwise, DVD.

@Zee

I do not, I had so many packages to choose from and at the time, my brother was in Korea so there was that choice, Spanish was due to a lot of Spanish speakers only in nearby areas and Russian because of a lot of old Russians in nearby areas plus my old neighbor was Russian. Stopped at those 3 main was as I was going to be charged if I choose any more.

For the amount of recievers I have and TV package options plus the full insurance policy, should someone want the same thing, it would run you approximately $325 a month.

We’ve got a library at the USCCA where we can take any book on the shelf - and it’s ours. @Tim talks about it on his Facebook page for those of you with Facebook: USCCA Library | My dad taught me to NEVER stop learning. That's why I set up this library at USCCA headquarters — so that everyone, regardless of position, experience or... | By Tim Schmidt | Facebook

I see one of our Community friends has already commented there (ahem, @MrDJ) :wink:

Tim mentions 2 books - one his dad paid him $20 to read when he was 15 Dale Carnegie’s How to Win Friends and Influence People and the other which he likes to share parts of during our all company meetings Discipline Equals Freedom: Field Manual by Jocko Willink.

Another book that is in our library is Atlas Shrugged by Ann Rand. I was talking about it with @DBrogue when he was here for a tour earlier this week. It’s an amazing book - but painful to read because it’s too close to our current reality and it was written in the 1950s.

Has anyone read one of those books?

Not yet but they will be on my reading list now and they sound like good books.

Not Dale Carnegie’s book, but I’ve read the other two.

I haven’t read those books, but I have seen both Atlas Shrugged movies. They are so good and @Dawn is right that it’s too close to today’s reality.

I haven’t seen the second Atlas Shrugged movie yet. It’s sooo frustrating to watch/read. Great book, don’t get me wrong, but dang is it close to today’s reality.

Ok @MrDJ, @Zee and @Dawn, you’ve got us hooked now! I just bought all three movies on VUDU! Looks like I’ll be making plenty of Popcorn for movies this weekend. If anyone else is interested, VUDU sells the 3 pack for 19.99 right now. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

My wife and I just watched Atlas Shrugged 1 and are starting 2 now. Fantastic movies!

You’ll have to let me know if it’s as scarily similar to today’s reality, @NJStraightShooter!

Well, It’s getting close. As much as we could expect if the government keeps heading the way it is.

@Dawn, @Zee and @MrDJ,

UPDATE: Sherry and I Binge-Watched ALL THREE of the Atlas Shrugged movies! WOW! Gripping! We couldn’t wait to start the next. So close to today’s reality or what could be if Socialism takes over. (At least that is part of what I took of these movies.) A Mix of Today and Futuristic What Could Be world made these movies very entertaining and enlightening. One downfall, Not a Spoiler in the least, a couple of the characters changed actors from one movie to the next. You get used to who is who real quick but it would have been nice if they all stayed the same. All in All these are a MUST SEE!

PS - We even bought the Book on Nook Books for $9.99 plus tax.

I’ve seen the first movie and it was good - but as with most book/movies, the book was so much better. Can’t wait to watch the rest of the movies now. But with the weather finally turning nice in WI, it may be a few months before I see it. :slight_smile:

Watching-- Original Twilight Zone, Star Trek, Firefly.
Three Musketeers (British, 2014), Sherlock (British, Benedict Cummerbach and Martin Freeman), Sleepy Hollow, Bones, Burn Notice, NCIS, Harlots, Boston Legal, Jeopardy, The Last Kingdom, Lucifer, British Baking Show…all on HULU or NETFLIX

Also watch The Great British Sewing Bee when I can get it.

Books-mostly audio but some print: The Spenser series and the Hitch and Cole series, both by Robert B. Parker; The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher; several trilogies by Joe Abercrombie; Elmore Leonard books; the Joe Ledger series by Jonathan Mayberry; the Master and Commander series and Sharpe’s Rifles, both by Bernard Cornwell
Also several hundred stand alone audio books both fiction and non-fiction. (I spent 15 years commuting at least two hours a day. Yay audiobooks!)

My wife and I are big fans of Fathom events who have showings of classic movies in theaters. We’ve seen Ben Hur, Ten Commandments, Gone With The Wind, Double Indemnity, and a few others. They Don’t Make Them Like That Anymore. We’ll also watch just about anything with Bette Davis, Barbara Stanwick, Edward G. Robinson, Vincent Price,

I sounds like I don’t do anything except reading, listening, and watching. The list spans many years in which commuting played a large part. Plus I almost always have a book or video going while I’m doing other things, like sewing or chores, or working out in my shop. MP3’s and wifi RULE!

Regards.

I usually only try to listen the local and very brief on the national news. I usually read self improvement books for a hobby, but right now I started reading a book called “nature ramblings” I like to listen to all types of music. It is usually the type of music I hear that sets my mood for the day.
