I’m Dwain from the Memphis TN area and will be that crazy number kids are so excited about on my next birthday. I’ve carried a Ruger .380 in my pocket for a few years now but feel it is time to step up my protection level. No formal training but have hit the range a few times and use a dry fire system during the winter months. I generally read this community’s comments without commenting because I know my experience level is still growing. Crazy fact is that I won a gun give away check a couple of years back from USCCA. Thanks Don. I just finished part 2 of my 16-hour CCW training course, so I should get my permit in a few weeks. I’m planning to carry with an IWB holster on my hip (3:30), so I have been wearing it around the house to get used to it. I am also debating wether to get a red dot sight or just stick with the iron sights on my MP Shield.

I feel your pain. I left SoCal in 2022 but was able to get my CCW permit before leaving. I was in a very 2A friendly county. The Sheriff wanted to equip as many law abiding citizens as possible. It still took seven months and almost $500 to get my permit. Then I had to give it back when I left. CA has no reciprocity with anybody. I would shoot and train at Burro Canyon and Lytle Creek.
