Well now that you say it’s your opinion it is the truth. Need less to say your opinion is your opinion and the truth is the truth. What I have a problem with is saying your opinion is the truth.
Ok I’ll concede that.
I think it would be easy to come up with lots of actions that appeared to be for the public good. Though you could rightly argue that most of those instances were to put themselves into better position for future personal gain.
But I don’t like absolutes. My opinion is that on average politicians spend about 99% of their time working for their own benefit and/or that of their big money backers. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt that maybe as much as 1% of their efforts might go towards promoting the common good without thought of personal gain.
I can’t speak to Ford’s actual motivations for that act but can think of more than a few personal gains that might be derived from that pardon.
It’s not our long-term regulars regardless of USCCA membership getting up on the wrong side of the bed.
It is those spoilers (interlopers) opposed to 2A who just joined to cause whatever trouble or grief for us because that’s their agenda, to smack down 2A.
It’s a hate motivated behavior, they hate us and what we stand for and don’t care about anything else, but disrupting our harmony with each other and our effectiveness championing our cause.
These are the type of people who would hack us and plant malware here or elsewhere, or scam and defund us if they could.
Not our friends at all, just having friendly disagreement about preferences like the great caliber debate.
They don’t want us to have any caliber from a BB to a cannon ball; makes no difference to them.
They are not arguing nuances. They would abolish us into extinction if they could.
This is the resists the reality of the election outcome and stifle the incoming administration’s agenda for the entire ensuing four-years mentally.
They have always hated and always will hate everything 2A, and make trouble for us: “Just because.”
It’s not us against ourselves, it’s those who want to pit us against ourselves.
Don’t be played by them is what I am saying.
I have not nor will I flag anyone for anything, not even them as much as they beg for it.
I don’t play that game.
I’m just wanting to raise our level of awareness that they’re a few trouble makers who have infiltrated us to cause us desertion in our ranks.
What we want and need is our harmony, undisturbed, and continue to enjoy the camaraderie of sharing our 2A experience together.
Focus on identifying those who would destroy us, and not let them.
Like any set of people we will have our differences but, we are not out to stifle anyone expressing them, or running anyone out of the community.
I love that we are feisty, and spirited.
We don’t need any party pooper spoiling what we enjoy about being part of this community.
We need to protect what we cherish most, like our families, we need to protect ourselves, each other, and not let outsiders pit us against ourselves.
Let’s keep our JOY in belonging here intact, we have four years of promising expectations to look forward to.
This opinion has been formed from years of watching them in the quest for money and above all else power over others. Admittedly some are much better than others…we still vote for the lesser of two evils. You and I have disagreed on a couple of things here and there…but I like you. Your opinion has value.
He more than likely would have been the next president. If it wasn’t for pardoning Nixon, He was liked on both sides of the isle … I am not sure of his motivations either … Other then out of Friendship .
I am on it.
I would count protecting a friend as a personal gain. Aside from my family the most important thing I have in my life are my few close friends. I would not want to see them suffer if I could prevent that without bringing harm to others.
Though I suspect most politicians would not put their friends ahead of their careers and their own pocket books. I also don’t know anything about the personal and professional relationship between Ford and Nixon. So can’t say if there were other behind the scenes motives.
In my personal life. I have tried to curb the ignorance over guns. I went so far as taking a liberal humanist weapon hater to the range … His belief was guns are evil and only used to kill people…
After some instruction about firearms… We proceeded to the range after some time we finished. He had so much fun. He was not adverse to doing it in the future …
Tolerance overcame Ignorance this day …
I so agree … Sadly even if they start out with noble ambitions… They are soon crush by the weight of fundraising . They must do everyday to keep feeding their narcissistic tendencies … Plus support the Pyramid Scheme call re-election …
I love you. Unconditionally.
These people quickly find themselves on my ignore forever list. I don’t see their drivel and I can see good content and stay reasonably sane.
There are blocks to check too many different categories, being off tropic is just one.
It’s too easy to transgress. I have been sloppy with my two fat thumbs going to hit a like or link icon and hit the flag icon by error which alone does nothing if you don’t follow through by indicating a reason.
There are more than a few reasons.
If you are chatting with anyone in one topic and another pops up and you dash a comment on another topic to them, bingo you commented an offense by misplacing that post under the wrong topic.
I must have done that more than I realize never having been flagged or called on that.
But, recently a small batch of my posts got flagged and acted on, subsequently those were moved to the appropriate topic thread.
Ultimately, no harm done beyond initially being a bit irked, until those posts reappeared.
It did get me to be more mindful of my post placement rather than being hap hazard about it, and at the same time that the Community has caught the attention of a few new detractors from our cause, who would make grief for us.
I notice some being rudely snarky taking exception to a few posts POV point of view and I thought that the troll was snarky and unhinged.
One of them is who I suspect flagged me as that was the best he could do not willing to match wits, likely did not think that was a risk worth taking.
There is a Passive-Aggressive Personality Disorder characterized by someone not being confrontational in person, one on one.
But, rather they snipe from a safe distance anonymously hiding behind a pseudonym, or engaging in road rage from the relative safety of their vehicle vs. toe to toe.
You don’t have to do anything more egregious like make a snarky personal attack with name calling laced with profanity and insults that could get anyone banned.
Something anyone could take offense to.
Not just engaging in the great caliber debate and taking sides with your personal preference, and not disagreeing about anything else keeping it civil.
Not like calling the other debater an idiot for their preference.
OK on one of my own posts I snooped the flag icon and here is the screenshot of it
Fewer categories are listed than I recall because to one for Community Guidelines provides a link to that to save space.
Then after you select the nature of the offense by checking a block
there is a tab in a blue box like the reply tab to actually post that flag.
It takes a deliberate act; not casual act on the part of the flagged.
Yes, I, too, have brought people to the range that were not believers in the RKBA. All, but one, changed their views, but if the person isn’t willing to open his/her mind, that would never happen. I try to open dialog with people that on the face one might discount the RKBA. When I was handing out sample ballots on election day, I had a few conversations with Democrats, with a broad range of belief in our RKBA. Those that were willing to open their minds, I had good conversations with, regardless of whether or not they agreed with me, at least we had a dialog, which is a good start.
It is not the trolls that are stifling us. I don’t mind people disagreeing with us. I can either block them or just don’t bother to read their posts. It is a pain sometimes but also can be a reminder as to the reasons we are here in the first place. I have only been in the Community for a year and love to read the posts from most everyone. I like a place where people can state their views and people can disagree with both knowledge and passion. It gives you extra information about all the view points that people consider and it is our job to turn those opinions to what is true.
The 1st and 2nd amendment are my most favorites of them all. True, there are laws that somewhat restrict both, but I haven’t seen any need of of the applications of those laws in this community. Being PC is not a law, not a right. It is a concept that some idiot came up with.
No we don’t, but the organizations that we support may. And that would be a shame but surely self created.
I feel too strongly about being responsibly armed for them to stifle me. The more they try to stifle me the stronger I get. It is the politics and insults that stifle me so I just focus on being responsibly armed.
I don’t always agree with some of the posts I read. Sometimes I think of offering a different perspective, but usually I just move on to another topic. I do not believe that flagging a post is the answer if someone never attempted to offer another perspective and engage to truly understand the intent of the post.
I’m saddened to read that your post was taken down due to another who apparently made no attempt at engagement. I would hope this action, and similarly withdrawn posts, doesn’t prevent one from creating a post that shares his/her point of view or encourages advocacy.
So far, I have only responded to two posts (this being the second) as I am feeling the group to see if I am a fit. Im not the type to flag, I hope to be the type to offer my point of view, and I also hope to always be the type to encourage advocacy.
As Adam Savage used to say on Mythbusters: “I reject your reality and substitute my own.”
