Trailblazer Pivot

It’s neat, but yea, not a fan of how he handled it. Looks like you could pivot the stock, holding the barrel, rather than how he did it. Wonder if he did that on purpose to turn the video into a safety discussion.

If the design is smart, it will have lockouts that require it to be in full firing configuration in order to have a loaded chamber and magazine inserted. Basically, if there’s one in the pipe or the magazine inserted, it won’t allow the barrel to reverse.

UM….? He made me nervous and the Toy Gun didn’t impress me. Looked like a failure before 100 rounds pass through it. (This was a USCCA sponsored vid ?…. Er Ok.)

:thinking:I guess I’m just not tactical enough.

I’m not sure why this was created. What problem is this thing trying to solve? I personally would select an AR-15 pistol platform before I chose the fidget spinner barrel PCC.

It is a compact PCC. It can be used for self-defense. If someone gave me one to review I would. Probably why Kevin is reviewing it. I think Kevin would tell us and not endorse/review it if he thought it was unsafe.

I am not impressed with this one. I had a friend show me another video review before seeing this one and I just shook my head. The pivot seems a little too ungainly to function smoothly when needed ā€œright now.ā€ I prefer my Keltec Sub2000, and here is why:

Overall specifications:

The Trailblazer is 20.9 inches folded, minimum length. Fully extended it is 29.7. Weight empty is 5 lbs. The KelTec is 16.15 inches folded, minimum length. Fully extended it is 29.2. Weight is 4.2 lbs. The Keltec edges out the Trailblazer by 4 inches when folded, making it a smarter choice as a backpack gun. It is also a little lighter.

Folding vs pivoting:

The Keltec folds in the middle, top over bottom, and latches muzzle to butt. When wearing the weapon on the OE sling, it is a very simple step to pull the latch and let gravity unfold the weapon without having to hold it away from your body or twist it on its side. You can have your strong hand on the grip, ready to go, and perform the same maneuver.

Out of battery in stowed position?

Speaking with a voice of experience, if I decide to fold my Keltec with a round in the chamber, the round falls out as soon as the weapon is folded. You may sweep yourself with the muzzle, but it is only a pipe. The trailblazer, it seems, can be pivoted back into the stowed position with a round still in the chamber and all the action, including the firing pin, still behind it.

I’m certain Trailblazer did their testing to ensure it cannot discharge when pivoted, but accidents can happen. Look at the recent issues with the Sig P320.

Magazine acceptance:

The Trailblazer is compatible with Glock mags. No real worries there as there are a bazillion Glocks roaming around the world. If you own a Glock, the trailblazer may be a good companion weapon for you. But what if you, like me, have something other than a Glock? A Beretta 92/96? A Sig? S&W? The Keltec can be found already set up with about 20 different magazine configurations or if you have a ā€œmultimagā€ version like I do, you can change a few small components and change which magazine you can use. These other magazine configurations are hard to come by because Glock is the most popular.

MSRP:

Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price for the Trailblazer Pivot is $1795.00.

Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price for the Keltec Sub2000 is $511.

WHAT??? Over three times higher?

In my mind, the Keltec Sub2000 is the better choice for a short, backpack stored, PCC.

I concur. I have several thousand rounds through my Keltec and it is a tack driver. It is my truck gun and I can carry it anywhere.

To put it lightly.

What is Tim Schmidt’s next marketing scheme, ā€œHey, don’t be like Kevinā€ or ā€œGlock owners, How to rack the slide with your finger on the triggerā€?

If in a hurry to defend yourself the Pivot will get you killed for $1800
