Too bad the homeowner missed

This had such great potential for a happy ending, but the homeowner needed more range time.

There is missing information and few factors that may explain his missed shot.
It says nothing about the distance.
“Terrified homeowner grabbed his handgun” - means stress was at high level.
Practice… yes, we need practice all the time, more and more. We will never be ready for every possible situation. Always one step behind the attacker.
Even best practice doesn’t give a 100% proficiency in high dynamic and stressful moments.

The most important is that he did everything legally and the shot did the job.

I like this reply that was left:

“I suppose the intruder got away while the armed homeowner reloaded his assault musket, the only firearm NJ would allow him to own?”

Priceless.

Whenever I see a story about NJ and guns I am reminded of the horror story recounted in Brian Aitken’s book “The Blue Tent Sky: How the Left’s War on Guns Cost Me My Son and My Freedom” (2014). Brian did hard time in NJ for merely possessing firearms that he lawfully purchased.
