A federal judge blocked President Donald Trump’s administration Wednesday from enforcing portions of an executive order designed to punish a prominent law firm linked to Democratic-funded opposition research during the 2016 presidential campaign into ties between the Republican candidate and Russia.
U.S. District Judge Beryl Howell in Washington granted a temporary restraining order sought by the firm, Perkins Coie, one day after it filed a federal lawsuit alleging it’s being illegally targeted because of its legal work. The judge said the president’s action sends a chilling message that lawyers can be punished for representing clients or advancing views unfavorable to the administration.
“Such a circumstance threatens the very foundation of or legal system,” said Howell, who was nominated to the bench by Democratic President Barack Obama. “Our justice system is based on the fundamental belief that justice works best when all parties have zealous advocates.”
The order came during an extraordinary court hearing in which Attorney General Pam Bondi’s chief of staff, Chad Mizelle, defended the latest in a series of retributive moves targeting the president’s perceived adversaries. It’s highly unusual for such a high-ranking Justice Department official to argue on behalf of the government in the trial court.
Mizelle, who’s also serving as the acting associate attorney general, argued that the president has the clear authority to take action against entities he believes present a threat to national security.
“If that means excluding individuals that are no longer trustworthy with the nation’s secrets, that’s a bedrock principle of our republic,” Mizelle said.

No, they are enforcing the constitution. Lawyers are hired to argue from the perspective of their clients. Do you think defense attorneys are bad becasue they defend criminal rights?
The reason Trump is doing this is becasue he doesn’t want lawyers to take any cases opposing his views or call him out when he violates the law and the constitution. He is saying that if you take a case against me, I will blackball your entire firm and you won’t get any business and your clients won’t get any govt contracts. That is a blatant attempt to chill free speech and protection of the constitution. He fired the military JAG heads for the same reason.
More good news. President Trump instructs all agencies to ENFORCE the EXISTING Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 65(c), which says that anyone who asks a court for an injunction (a temporary order stopping a government action) must first deposit money or a bond with the court. This money is intended to cover potential harm or costs to the government if the court later decides that the injunction was improperly issued.
Removing a federal judge appointed for life requires Congress to act. It is the same impeachment process as for President. Impeachment in the House, trial in the Senate. Impeachment has happened 15 times since the founding of the United States, with only 8 convictions, 4 acquittals and 3 resignations.
Good luck getting that done with today’s Congress that is obsessed with more important things with national security implications – like who can use the women’s bathroom or trans people in high-school women’s sports or fighting with Canada or going to war with Denmark to annex Greenland.
Perhaps it’s time for an executive order to dethrone all democrat judges.
Why not, we can throw as much sh1t at the walls as they can and see what sticks!

Judges are supposed to be impartial and preside over the procedures before them to “referee” if an event violates the proper dignity and protocols, as well as the trust and honor, placed in the courts. As such, there is no such thing as “activist” judges. Only judges that are usurping power not rightfully theirs and, in abusing said power, view themselves as “activists”, and, in my view, illegally so. As such, those committing these illegal actions need to be impeached, arrested, tried and removed from the office they hold/ imprisoned and fined a substantial amount. Especially if it is determined that they have ruled against the ability of the President to exercise power that he has by virtue of the office he holds.
All of the above is particularly important if their “half-a$$ed” rulings pertain to matters concerning National Security.
