This Is Why You Stay Armed: DOT Worker Killed in Brutal Mother-Daughter Attack ~ VIDEO

Beware the shod foot!

On 17 Oct 25, an aging City of Baltimore DOT employee (unarmed) was out in the city. He approached (on foot) a parked car occupied by a woman and her teenage daughter in order to politely tell them that someone was waiting for the parking spot.

The teenage girl became instantly enraged, bolted from the vehicle, and immediately attacked the DOT employee with her fists. The girl’s mother also exited the vehicle and quickly joined-in, jumped on the DOT employee’s back, forcing him to the ground.

Both mother and daughter then kicked and stomped the DOT employee’s head severely enough to cause significant brain injury, which in fact proved ultimately fatal. The hospitalized DOT employee never recovered and died from his injuries the day before Thanksgiving.

The mother was subsequently arrested. She is a convicted felon, and was “out on parole” at the time of the incident. No signs the daughter has been arrested or charged.

Lessons:

1) This City employee was doing the job he is paid to do. The rest of us need to be acutely aware of the fact that our world is full of unstable people, and many among the “unstable” are precipitously homicidal in certain circumstances, as we see!

Accordingly, confronting unstable people, in any circumstance, is extremely dangerous. We are thus well-advised to be very good at minding our own business and not voluntarily inject ourselves into other people’s affairs.

“Road-rage” is not confined to roads!

2) Many fail to appreciate the dynamics and extreme dangers associated with a “gang-beating.” It does not take much to get knocked off your feet, and once you go down, you’re within easy range of lethal stomps and kicks. Being thus simultaneously attacked while on the ground by multiple assailants is often mortal (as it was in this case). Your attackers will probably not be barefoot, and concrete does not provide much of a “cushion!”

3) Gunfire will disperse most mobs, even homicidal ones, instantly! Smoothly drawing your concealed pistol and shooting accurately while on the ground are critical skills, and ones that will prevent you from being stomped to death!

4) As our Secretary of Transportation recently pointed out, “civility” is currently at a historic low in our civilization. Aggravated verbiage, particularly with people you don’t know, needs to be averted, but quickly de-escalated when unavoidable.

A little courtesy goes a long way!

5) Everyone, but especially those of us who go armed, need to periodically review the places we go and the people with whom we associate.

“Don’t be there” continues to be the best way to handle any dangerous situation.

“Get out of there” continues to be the second-best!

A quick search of the interweb answered a question for my which I sort of already knew:

Baltimore Department of Transportation (DOT) employees are not generally allowed to carry firearms while on duty, as the right to carry is restricted to law enforcement officers and other specifically exempted individuals. The city’s regulations and general Maryland law require a specific permit for carrying a handgun, and open carry is prohibited in Maryland as of October 1, 2023.

  • General Prohibition: Baltimore city law and general state law prohibit private citizens from carrying firearms unless they meet specific exemptions, which do not include DOT employees.

  • Permit Required: To legally carry a handgun in Maryland, individuals need a Wear and Carry Handgun Permit (WCHP), which has specific eligibility requirements.

  • Open Carry Prohibited: As of October 1, 2023, open carry is illegal in Maryland.

  • Exceptions: Exemptions exist for law enforcement officers, U.S. Armed Forces members on duty, and other specific public safety roles.

Had the dead hero in the story been in possession of a firearm during the attack and defeated his two attackers, he would have lost his job, just like the cashier who got fired from 7-11 recently. He would have probably been brought up on charges for being in possession of the firearm also.

But at least his murder won’t go down as “gun violence” so the powers-that-be in happy old Maryland can claim their gun control is working.

So if he was legally carrying concealed which it sounds like like he could according to the 2A which maybe Maryland doesn’t follow

he would still be alive and maybe be fired.

The thing is, even if this older gentleman chose not to carry, states like Maryland have made it so clear that citizens are not allowed to defend themselves that criminals and lunatics aren’t afraid of anything. Maybe if the lunatics were concerned their victims could shoot back, they’d think twice about attacking an elderly person just trying to help others.

Again, this story makes me sick. It’s like the story of the Ukrainian woman on the train. Senseless, horrific violence.

we used to volunteer at a men’s mission not far off the inner harbor. Get in. Get out. Keep your head down. Unfortunately we have family that need frequent visits to the superior medical care offered in the lovely downtown of “Charm City.” The city where they call everyone “hon” right before they assault you.

I have a brother living in MD, married a girl from Dundalk (a Baltimore suburb). Marylanders are nuts for putting up with laws like this but are caught up in the DC mindset, being a bedroom state like Virginia serving Washington DC government employees. He finally bought a handgun for home defense - a .45 ACP Kimber - and I asked him why he spent that kind of money. His reasoning centered on quality - which is true - but I told him if he ever has to use that gun for self-defense of home and family, the police are going to confiscate the weapon as evidence, it will see a lot of “range time” while in police possession and the gun he gets back will be in a lot worse condition than it was in the day/night he had to use it.

What makes MD laws so insane is the obvious violation of the basic principles of American Law that were expressed at our founding in the Declaration. “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. – That to secure these Rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the Consent of the governed.”

We have an absolute Right to control our individual lives and destinies. The courts have held that it is not just a Right but a RESPONSIBILITY for each of us to be our own first line of defense against crime. But we keep running into the deadly hypocrisy of laws not allowing us to fulfill the lawful requirement to defend ourselves (Warren v District of Columbia - 444 A 2d, 1 (DC Appl., 1981).

Maryland’s restrictive gun laws are a double-barreled infringement on what should be treated as a Human Right!
