This is happening around here - What would you do

I typically have my EDC on my person, even when in my condo so when this kind of stuff happens, and it does occasionally in our building, I wouldn’t start with a gun if if he was just outside banging on the door BUT, if the door came open and he stepped in he would probably be looking at Kimberly…

I watch through my ring camera how they ignore my No Solicitation sign.
I don’t say anything, just make them aware Im watching.

I would probably talk to the guy for about an hour. My wife would probably call the police.

I’m not sure if I have my anger issues toward solicitation under control enough to answer the door.

I agree though. If they enter my home without permission, they’re gonna be staring down the barrel of at least one firearm.

Edit to clarify: I have a non-solicitation sign on my door. The anger is regarding those who ignore it.

In December here it is dark before 6:00pm. Had a kid not from my neighborhood ring the doorbell at about 9:00 pm. I have a heavy screen door locked and bolted at all times, but I opened the inner door just a crack. If you open the door after dark, they can see everything you’ve got in your house. The kid claimed to be selling candy. My large dog lunged at the door and was very intimidating to the kid, to say the least! The door was opened wider by then but the kid backed up a ways, staring at my dog. I told him I wasn’t interested. A week later I heard 3 units on my street had been broken in to. The kid had to have been a spotter for someone else.

I scared the crap out of a couple of Jehovah’s Witnesses about a month ago. Can’t wait to be solicited…bet they don’t return.

I have signage, cameras, long range acoustic equipment, claymores, minefields, electrical fencing, dogs, a backhoe, fenced in backyard, and yet they still ring the bell and knock.

And who doesn’t have a TALOS SUIT when answering the door?
Usually when I answer the door like this, they never come back!

Seriously, those signs are there for their protection.
They are usually alone and I ensure NO WITNESSES!
I do maintain a database of every door knocker! You never know!
For a year they were relentless, almost 25 - 30 a month, sometimes in pairs and rarely in threes, some with get away vehicles, some that would return twice or three times during one day or return dressed the same the next day, some with strange items they would either set down close to my cars gas tank or my front door, day time, night time and weekends!

If I could afford the suit I would seriously consider donning it when they are about to knock!

This jerk returned five times!

These guys had backup..

These wonderful guys questioned “who the f—k I was” when I asked them who they were!
It’s not paranoia when it’s real. They weren’t selling Girl Scout cookies!

These DON’T WORK :red_exclamation_mark:

I think it might be wise to not open the door. Of course it depends on the situation. When someone unknown is at my front door I do have my firearm behind my back-never want to reveal it to anyone. Just the other day someone was knocking at the door so I had my firearm behind me and looked through the sidelight and it was a women giving out tree cutting services cards, so this time it was legit. But we have had individuals lately around my neighborhood trying to gain entry to homes with the idea of advertising, big red flag. Always be cautious and ready

Damn, brother. You really do have a problem with these people. Can you lock that outside screen door, or maybe even put up a security door? I don’t like the fact that they’re already that far into your space, coming into the enclosed entry way like that.

They’re definitely not girl scouts!

First, I’m always armed. If I’m awake, I’m armed, so there’s no need for me to grab a gun before dealing with the door. Second, I have a single hung window kitty-corner to the door. I have the track blocked for all but a couple inches of opening. The window is nearly unbreakable hurricane glass. This way, I can open the window a crack to talk to someone without having to open the door. Also, my door is outward swinging, so if someone tries to bash it open it will be much, much harder.

We have a pretty hard rule in our house- we don’t open the door unless it’s someone we know, or if it’s a uniformed officer and we can see their marked car (had one knock once, looking for a missing child in the area).

Screen door does lock. However because the nature of the world today, deliveries such as Amazon, water, etc. I prefer items to be left inside the screen door and not visible to outside sources such as porch pirates.
In addition my screen door is very noisy and alerts me when someone attempts to open it.
My doors also open outward and windows are impenetrable, perhaps only by an RPG, or 30 minutes with a sledgehammer!
Unfortunately I’m not a dog person, so I’ve had to train my cats to kill!
