This great Bill is what we need to Strengthen our 2A, and shove the sword right through the heart of the anti-gun law agendas.

Under Trump a bill like this could survive.

Reciprocity has gone about as far as it will go.

The Supremes could set us free of permits. Soon. They find the issuing of permits unConstitutional. And so too do I, frankly. The States want to keep the power. Makes them feel better, safer knowing we’ve been fingerprinted and tagged again, Good little doggies.

Won’t need a bill then. Perhaps the States will come to their senses. Freed by case law and in the interest of Constitutional integrity! Hear! Hear!

Free those wonderful, insured, reponsible gun carriers!

I’m about as pro-2A as they come, but I don’t support this bill. My reasoning is as follows. If reciprocity is something the federal government starts to regulate, what’s to say they won’t continue to regulate it when congress changes and becomes even more anti-2A? In other words, I can easily see this backfiring on us in just a few short years.

Like most things, I believe this issue should be left entirely to the states. The federal government has too much overreach as it is. There’s no reason to invite them to open the door for more.

If we haven’t learned the lessons that surround Citizens United, then we as a Country deserve what’s coming.

The Law of Unintended Consequences is undefeated.

“The law of unintended consequences is the idea that actions can have unexpected results, which may be beneficial, harmful, or neutral. These results can be difficult to predict because complex systems have many interconnected parts, and a change in one part can have ripple effects”.

In 2009, Republicans celebrated Citizens United as a win for Free Speech. It benefitted Republicans greatly due to the Koch Brothers political activism. Until they, as had been warned, stopped donating as much. Due, pretty much, to George “Dubya” Bush, being no longer in office.

The biggest irony, former President Obama, got it right saying it allowed to much room, for Corporate big money to influence power and would distort elections with it’s influence. Remind me again? Whats the names of the 3 companies that own 80% ■■■■■■■ percent of every single ■■■■■■■ thing in the entirety of the United States.

Oh yeah, Black Rock, State Street, and Vanguard. Remind me again about which side of the political spectrum they â– â– â– â– â– â– â–  support.

Last month, with the most popular Republican Presidential Candidate on the planet, Donald Trump was out raised in donations by over 3 to 1.

Democratic Party: $500,000,000 +

Republican Party: $150,000,000 +

That’s with the Richest guy, on the planet, donating $45,000,000 to Trump through his PAC.

But, sure, let’s get a bill through Congress allowing the Federal Government more power. It’s worked, out so well for us so far. I mean our Justice Department and every single 3 letter Federal Agency, haven’t been co-opted and weaponized and used against Conservatives, to beat us into submission.

Yes, let’s give the Federal Government even more power, so that the very second the Democratic Party regain control of the Presidency, and of both Houses, they can then repeal the law on National Reciprocity, and they can then institute even stricter Gun Control laws, but now it has legal precedent. Yes, that’s a great ■■■■■■■ idea.

If anyone doesn’t get it, my post is dripping with sarcasm and insincerity.

The entire purpose of the Constitution of the United States is to LIMIT the power of the Federal Government.

I don’t want to see a bill turned into law. The only way National Reciprocity works is amending the Constitution of the United States of America.

Edit: the usual suspects. SMFH

We, on this forum, know what would be at stake.

I think if this bill passes it will be because we are the federal government. I think the problem/ challenge will be we won’t have anything to complain about. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

The Federal Government has no authority to regulate firearms, so this bill is unconstitutional. Massey got this wrong in spite of his good intentions. We have to get back to the constitution. If your State has restrictions, move or sue your State.

I am far from being an expert on government. It is a step in the wright direction. We can only regulate the criminals that have them. We need a gun to do that. This is that opportunity.

Limits on the power of government is out of the question. You know that isn’t going to happen.

All we can do is wait and see what they do with the bill.

Carryon.

My belief is we need the Supreme Court to rule that a CCW or LTC from your state is good in all states, Just like a drivers license.

Wouldn’t that give us the same rights this bill does?

This would violate States Rights. No can do. States would be outraged and sue the Feds over that immediately and the Feds would lose.

That’s not how this works.

We can only wait and see what they do with the bill. Sure, call, write, scream, yell at your elected piggers and see if you can sway the vote.

Meantime I believe the Supremes have ruled already or are about to rule that gun permits are unConstitutional. That’s all they can really do. The trick is trying to get the States to follow the ruling and recognize themselves the permits are unConstitutional. But they don’t want to.

States can be every bit the tryant the Feds are. Sometimes even worse. States love tying the alleged “free” folk up in handcuffs and red tape, too.

Reciprocity is ridiculous. That’s like saying you have free speech in one state, but cross into another, and…oops, better check that states laws to see if you still have free speech. You could attach this to any God-given right. The right of self-defense is Biblical law, brought over by the Puritans and was part of English Common law from centuries ago, which is very clear on the right to protect oneself and to protect your domain (property). Watch this documentary to learn more.

It is ridiculous. We still have to fight for it if we want to be legal or the bullies (anti- gun people) will take it away.

Most folks on this site are quite aware of this, to be sure.

Preachin ’ to the choir.

Self-defense is our most basic and most important human right of all.

We’ll see what happens.

Anti-gunners will not come to take your guns. Neither will Kamel Hairz, Ol’ Pedo Joe nor Trump nor the Supremes nor the 535 members of our Congress of baboons.

Guess who’s coming to get yer gun?

Your local cop.

And, true to this thread, here is a little piece explaining more on State’s Rights, etc., and where all this legal confusion stems from. The problem is at least as old as the ratification of US Constitution in 1787.

Our Rights have been slowly usurped.

If We, the People, are not happy and secure in our persons and possessions – the fault lies with us.
