And what do those participating in this protest hope to accomplish?
Will they block the border somehow, standing arm-to-arm for 300 miles for the rest of their lives? Magical thinking.
Will they start shooting migrants hoping that that will change anything? Magical thinking.
Will they hope that by driving to the border and showing up en masse, someone, somewhere, will appear and do something that fixes the border? Magical thinking.
Congress has to muster the will to fix the border situation that involves fixing the migration laws. Congress can’t pick a speaker, can’t agree on a budget, and is focused on social issues and impeaching a President in an action that will never happen. A better action would be for those planning to go the border to vote their Congressman out of office and run for office themselves rather than waste time driving to the middle of nowhere to accomplish nothing.

I believe the people going to the border have lost faith in the voting system, believe that more corks WILL help stop the leak, and that if enough people do get involved Congress will have no option but to close down the border and continue the wall.
But, our current administration has been given all the ways, 8 times by Gov. Abbott, to stop the border crisis. He’s not in charge and doesn’t care about votes.

A wall does not fix the border, it just makes it a little harder for people to go around, over or under. You still end up with a boatload of migrants to deal with.
Our cowardly and incompetent elected officials in Congress have to act. The only reason they will act is if there’s a threat of being unelected.
