Stop Box Opinions?

I’m considering getting a stop box. For years I’ve gotten the ads and figured it was just a gimmick, but after doing more research it seems like it’s actually a decent product. I’ve used a quick access safe for years, love it, BUT I’m traveling more with the family this year and many nights I’ll be staying at a different home. The quick access safe is pretty heavy and I still like having it at my home.

Pros- light weight, no batteries, keys or combos. Get the gun quick in a pinch.

Cons- seems somewhat less secure but I haven’t got my hands on one so that might be a false assumption. I dont want kids farting around with my electric quick access case (though I like its audible so I can here if someone’s messing with it) and my 3 number combo case is only 3 numbers.

interesting may look into it…

Just having a cheap lock box that keeps honest people out (And children), satisfies local or state laws, and fits my firearm (In its holster) and a extra magazine is all I feel I need.

Of course, people are free to spend more, I just don’t think expensive “portables” justify their price. As I said, they just keep “honest” people out. This is just my opinion.

This was my first one-

I got this one for the second car from Harbor Freight $21.

If Michelle Viscusi loves it you shouldn’t hesitate any more minute… go get one !

Just kidding, even I love Michelle .. she seems to be a paid influencer for this product.

Just remember - it’s not a safe. So it works in places you trust, so I’d not use this for hotels and car.
It works great as concealment and gives more security than regular holster when you play around kids.

Quick access, especially for left handed  But plastic case doesn’t permanently secure the firearm, so it’s not a problem to get the firearm out of it without using lock combination.

I just found the newest video about StopBox where the guy actually explains everything you should know about this product.

It’s up to you if it fits your needs or not. A lot of pros and cons.

Good price I noticed. Good endorsements. The StopBox seems like it’s quieter/stealthy.

I ended up finding a Vaultek brand instead, but mine uses both 9 volt battery for password PIN to unlock (you choose the number), and or a key, either or. I kind of like the sounds it makes, the audibles tells me its working. I use a Lithium battery.

Good thing is you will have a safe. Wish you success.

Haven’t thought about it but you have me thinking of getting one now. Mot for me but for my brother who has some grandkids running around.

I have one of these for certain things. I just worry about it turning into a “find the key” game with kids. And if something goes down I have to find the key, open the box. I’d rather have something that is quicker in the case of an emergency.

This is why I figured it wasn’t great. It’s weird that it’s basically sold in pairs, it’s plastic and it’s overly repenting social media… BUT every now and then it’s a legit product with a good marketing push.

First off.., Ew a Sig!

Holster thing is a big issue for me. Wonder if full size would Fit a 43x holstered. I understand it’s quick access, but I always limit handling the forearm. It stays chambered in the safe in the holster. When I carry the whole unit comes out. When I’m done whole unit goes in. I definitely don’t want to change that system.

Have you looked at the Hornady Rapid safes with the RFID bracelet?

Defeats the idea of getting away from electronics.

Sometimes we have to compromise depending on what we want.

In my car I have 2 keyed, metal safes.

Walther sent me a free Hornady combination safe(plastic-y) that I would’nt store gum in.

If I need to quickly get to a firearm the RAPID bracelet safes or Vaultek would be my go to for safes.

If I need my firearm quickly in a vehicle, I’m wearing it. If I need to dig it out of a safe in a vehicle, I’m in the wrong place.
If I need my firearm quickly at home, my layered sensors and alarms have already failed me.

My Sheriff’s department frowns on me wearing my firearm when I go to visit them.

Just curious, how often do you “visit”?

In the past 3 years I have needed to visit them to have my CCW information updated, address change, County change, and renewal.
I don’t use them for Uber

By “digging out”, I mean in a hurry, in a SD situation. Nothing wrong with using a lock box where it’s required. (Except, It shouldn’t be required in the first place…)

At home it is always next to me and when I’m asleep it is my pillow.

Same, but I would never get used to sleeping with it under my pillow.
