I am not a veteran, so thank all veterans for their service. One thing I have noticed all veterans have in common is they are all veterans.

We didn’t have time for any of that race stuff, we all came from different backgrounds different colors different religions, we were men and women. We all agreed, if the Russians came across the Rhine River we’d stand shoulder to shoulder to slow them down (we knew we couldn’t stop them).

I have always had a problem with people “thanking me for my service”. I have had several therapists tell me to just say/mumble “thanks” or “you’re welcome”.

I was a combat medic. I lost troupers. I saw really terrible things. Every time someone says “thank you …” I turn my face away and try to hide my tears. I lost my wife and daughter and now my “best friend” because of this. So forgive me if I don’t see any perks.

I have paid for meals, gas in cars, food in grocery stores for first responders, soldiers families, and homeless. l myself just cannot put myself into that category. I survived. I don’t know how or why.

What I hear is not so much “thank you for serving” as “thank you for serving so I did not have to”.

Last night was dinner at the Legion Hall for us “PTSD Survivors”. The discussion got around how the local pain medicine docs are cutting back on our pain scripts. They claim we are just addicted and do not truly need the meds.

I can walk around the grocery store one day a week. I can go to church, with help, twice a week. I cannot sleep without seeing red sticky blood all over me.

I just don’t see any perks, I’m sorry about that.

If someone wants to buy you lunch? Say thank you.
You want to pay for someone’s lunch, then I say thank you.
If you want to abuse this for your own personal gain, then shame on you.

Duty.
Honor.
Integrity.

These are more than just words. These are the foundation of righteousness.

Or did you forget that?

I am every kind. Just not the murdering kind. I can be kind to the murdering kind by relieving them of their will to murder. That is the simple life I live. As long as our leaders don’t try to stop me from insulting the tub I have to install I’ll be fine. The sooner I get done the sooner I can be on the frontline with ya. Unless my wife needs me for something. She is recovering nicely with her new ankle. Hope all is well with you.:beer:

Welcome Daniel106, I am truly sorry for your troubles. MANY have walked in your boots, it wasn’t easy serving and was even Harder SURVIVING! Survivor’s GUILT is what PTS (It’s NOT a disorder!!) was explained to me by some people I respect and admire. You can’t go through the shite we went through and NOT be affected. It isn’t easy being a Green meanie, a Blue Zoomie, a Jarhead or a squid, a Coastie or any of the other Branches in the Defender’s TREE. Many of my Brothers are gone and sometimes I feel THEY were the lucky one’s.
I was fortunate I got off all pain med’s , the dickin’ around by the White Coats pissed me off. Like ‘Candy salesmen’ ‘Here try this, try that, we’ll double the dosage’ Bastards. And then these same quacks turn around and say ‘You are addicted’ MF’er’s.
I had a real problem with ‘Thank you for your Service Brother. But It’s a nice, respectfully thing for someone to say to you. It’s usually heartfelt and generally they mean well when they said it. Brother Dave17 here said it to me last year when he visited and the look on his face and the tone of the phrase said "Job well done!’
(and that was REALLY cool) You got hit hard by your ‘Service’ I GET THAT. and I am sorry. But I appreciate you and what you did (I hope you can accept that)
As I get older (I’ve said this once before) My Brothers come to me occasionally
for a check up from the neck up. It is a gift that I am grateful to have. They tell me to chill out, chide me a bit for getting down, and just generally bust my balls like we use to when they were on my side of the grass and that is a blessing.
We come at all we’ve been through and view life through different lenses and experiences. IT’S HARD man. Sometimes it sucks royally. But the GOOD DAY’S are a treat that I savor (Like my beloved Waffle’s)
You EVER need to talk Brother give me a shout out. I will listen (PM me )
Take care my Wounded Warrior, We’re in this together.

Sometimes we cannot accept what we give so freely to others.(i.e: meals, gas, groceries and that’s OK, that’s who you are, it isn’t bad or good–‘It is what it is—don’t be so hard on yourself’—spoken by a guy who use to bang hs head against a wall.
It feels really good when you stop doing that Brother.

Peace Out!

Some of the special treatment I’ve done for vets in my community.
Very well known in my community for the work I’ve done for LEO’s, First Responders and Veterans! And some politicians.
Keep your friends close and…
The work I did was mostly at my own expense and desire to protect,
for life, their sacrifices!
All the material to be framed was dropped and left for Scott to do his thing.
I’m almost famous, I’m the one that designed my local sheriffs department traveling “Wall of Fallen Heroes” .
My work on this was highlighted in Washington DC.
OK, I did receive something for my work, real in depth training with my local sheriffs department SWAT team.

My designs are well thought out.
The two columns represent two things, the number 11 and the Twin Towers. The photos do NO justice to the real size, depth and texture.

None of this is standard operating for most framers! I must have done hundreds of these. I’m extremely proud to give back. I expect nothing in return, all I do is sign my work on the rear.
I’m confident these will pass from generation to generation.

No one knows what they will get back until it’s presented to them. The letters and the tears that have accompanied much of my work is overwhelming.
