I have the NC star mentioned above. Works great on slides with parallel sides like Glocks, but a bit of an issue with angled side slides like M&P…just a little heads up.
happy anniversary. Enjoy your cake
I am late to this party, but I started a similar thread some time back because I was thinking about changing sights. I changed gears and bought a 10mm 1911 instead, but this one was highly recommended in that thread:
That’s not a bad price. I’d like it to work on M&Ps, but I’ve really been transitioning to Glock. If I change sights on two glocks, it’ll already have paid for itself and plus I’ll have the tool.
I’d also love if Glocks just came stock with good sights .
So… you want Glock to be in $1,000 price range?
Happy anniversary @Scoutbob
The MGW sight pro is a good choice and well made. I’ve had one for years and a few of their other pushers for guns I see the most. It may be more than you want to spend, but it will last with a lot of use. The Wheeler is also a good choice and would be alright for casual use.
I have an MGW Sight Tool (not the pro) which is only for Glocks. Not sure how much I paid for it, but I see prices now around $100. If I were starting over, I’d get one of the $100-200 universal pushers.
As mentioned above, if I get new sights from a LGS they will usually install for free/cheap. But as I find myself doing more things myself I appreciate the ability to swap out sights which I have done more than once. Not sure the sight tool has “paid for itself” yet, but being able to do it myself counts for something.
Just found an old vice in my back shed. The previous owners left it. I might try to clean it up that way I can just use my punches for sight swaps.
- Iron sites have a directional taper, nice to know if your removing a sight.
- Sites are US OR Metric ( for replacement )
- helpful to put bench marks on site before adjusting them using a brass drift or a sight vice.
- need to know basis how to Snug up loose windage sites.
Clean the jaws and see if you have old leather belts and a spare jaw the steel pieces that contact the frame you can buy nylon replacements but leather is softer on the guns finish glue or epoxy a couple strips on the face of the jaws and remember if you have aluminum rods use it as your pusher just put tape over rod. It’s soft enough not to gouge plastic glock sights and firm enough not to gall metal ones just put tape over them also a bs brass and plastic hammer . The sight pusher is usually made of hard metal and can wreck tritium or combo tritium fiber optic sights i mashed a rear ameriglo set for my apx slide another rear set later I was cooking with gas
@Owen2
The knife on the table looks familiar is it the Kershaw Emerson with the USCCA engraved on the blade? I love mine brother.
That APX Centurion looks more interesting to me than the knife…
