Sight selection

Sorry if this is a repeat. I searched a few times but didn’t find the same topic. That we mix site and sight doesn’t help.

While lit, the ranges here indoors are still a bit dark, especially if the shooter moved up to the bench. I’m thinking of upgrading the sights on a few firearms and need a good site or three to find quality information about choosing one type or brand over another. I absolutely do not need high end, and I’m cheap. I just came from the TruGlo site and they want $150 each…yeah, no.

The wonderful Henry rifle is nearly impossible to shoot accurately in these conditions particularly due to the front silver bead dot, and I wouldn’t mind upgrading the PPQ, 92, and PPS as a start…but i’m finding that many sites only list newer firearm sights. A great deal for a bulk purchase would entice me too.

Thanks in advance!

The only sights that work for me in indoor ranges are the XS Big Dot. I understand the price point but I saved and made it work

I don’t see how you could bulk purchase when you don’t have bulk of the same gun that you are outfitting all of.

Good sights and optics cost money. If you want cheap, start searching amazon or ebay and buy on price.

If you want quality, Trijicon, Meprolight, Ameriglo, TruGlo, whatever…yeah it’s three figures for a lot of guns.

Ameriglo for my Glocks, tritium front with a bright ring around it, blacked out rear, run $70-$80

Look at Ameriglo and look at tritium with a bright daytime ring around the tritium, where the rears are blacked out. Only paying for the one tritium vial that way instead of 3 and the front sight is really where it’s at anyway

Im glad you have experienced a lack of quick and easy sight acquisition despite being able to ID your target. That saves some conversation where people incorrectly claim that if you can see the target, you can rapidly and easily see your sights (no matter what they are)

Thanks! I hadn’t seen them before. i’m having a hard time accepting a few grand in sights to do everything. That sounds nuts.

I think that this is sarcasm. Please explain?

Thanks, Nathan. Checked them out and they all look nice. i’ll try to hunt down some deals. It looks like some places are offering 20% off for “signing up.” Will also check Amazon and Ebay. I require only low end that work adequately. I shoot each one only a few times a year at most.

I can’t adjust the retail price point, but to ‘piggyback’ off of @Karacal, I think we get 20% off at XS.

I agree with Karacal about the XS Sights…worth the price. WRT to your PPQ…check with Walther, as many of the PDPs parts will also fit the PPQ (I know for a fact this is true with magazines).

This looks reasonable for the Henry 22M

Is anyone familiar with nightfision?

All of the XS or just the big dot? Seems like the big dot ones align with the single vertical line rear, but the regular ones have two dots in the rear.

This is worse than the paper towel aisle.

Boy you ain’t lying’.
After using age Big Dot sights for a couple years I do not use the rear sight at all, I just put the front sight on the target and it hits every time.

This place seems to have some deals for Glock fans.

XS Sights are great, I have the Big Dots on all of my shotguns and AR front post.

You have the ones with the line on the rear site under the big front dot?

I’m a big fan of these👆

For me the orange ring around the tritium works best in the largest range of lighting conditions. Depending on the rear sights already on your firearms you may be able to get away with just ordering the front site. You need to make sure the heights are compatible if the rear isn’t adjustable and that the rear width is wide enough to see the whole front site. Though the bright front with blacked out rear only cost around $20 more I think.

Ameriglo also usually has sales or discount codes you can apply.

Start with an eye exam. Questing for the best front sight may be a medical condition and not a firearm fix.

I have a set co-witnessed with my Holosun on my PPQ. No issues or problems.
