I was wondering what people’s thoughts are on the three bullet that come from Sig. Ranging from recoil, expansion and anything else. I’ve been carrying the p365, they say it’s made for the short barrel of the P365. I’m sure that all are good ammo.
I have bought the V-Crown once to use in a 365 SAS.
Several rounds were ‘short’ and did not cycle well.
I stick to Federal HST 124g
Hth
Hornaday Critical Defense also a safe bet.
We are friends here… and we do not recommend garbage to friends… so…
stay away from SIG SD ammo.
The weirdest part of SIG ammo is that it mostly jams in SIG firearms… ![]()
Look for Community threads about SD ammo and you will find good recommendations for yourself.
I’ve shot all three variants with absolutely zero cycling or misfire hiccups in both a Sig P938 and Springfield EMP4. The Sig has a 22 pound flat wire recoil spring and the EMP4 has a 18 pound flat wire recoil spring.
The P365 ammo shoots exceptionally clean. I have loaded the P365 alternating FMJ and HP and could not tell any difference between the two. Subjectively, the P365 ammo seems snappier than the other two to me, with the 124 grain the least felt recoil.
With that said, I have experienced the most significant bullet setbacks with Sig ammo after multiple chambering. I am currently carrying either Underwood +P 90 grain Xtreme Defender with copper Lehigh fluted bullets, or Barnes TAC-XPD +P with 115 grain copper hollow point bullets. Neither the Underwood nor the Barnes ever exhibit bullet setback after chambering multiple times.
This is the most extensive listing of 9mm expansion and penetration data I know about:
I’ve had some v-crown. No issues, but that was through m&ps I believe.
have a full box of sig 38 super 20 round box of defense type that refuses to chamber!!! contacted sig got send photos please heard nothing else since…
There’s an adjective for that level of customer service ![]()
Which makes sense. M&P eats everything ![]()
You’re trying to switch me back over… stop manipulating me during these difficult Glock V times
…
but also true statement!

To be honest… whenever you decide to stop using Glocks… I think I will try convince you to shoot Echelon, not M&P. ![]()
I found it a nicer shooter, better adjusted for left handed operators.
Viva de loca, Glock…
