My everyday carry, S&W M&P9 Shield
Juan, how would you compare the recoil to the S & W 380Z? I have hand issues and bruising issues, so recoil for me is a major issue.
In my humble opinion I rather carry a Glock
Welcome to the forums Gregory!
Same here, easy to conceal.
Do you carry with safety on?
@John1505 , I have a 380EZ. I’ve not shot a regular shield 9, but personally, I find the 380EZ to be one of the lowest-recoil handguns I’ve tried with what people would consider a standard defensive caliber. I had originally gotten it for my wife as a nightstand gun, but she has such a small hand the grip safety wasn’t reliable for her and she couldn’t really reach the slide release, so she got a different gun and gave me the EZ. I liked shooting it so much, and was accurate and fast with it, so I adopted it as a regular carry gun. It’s really fun to shoot, and 100% reliable for me. In my view it’s 8+1 capacity is the main limitation.
And, a random picture of a S&W I happen to have in my pocket right now (reused from a different thread I posted it in earlier)
Joseph, do you have any suggestions for good self-defense ammo at a reasonable price for the 380EZ?
I use Federal Hydrashok Deep. It runs totally reliably. I have seen at least a couple different online testers using that exact ammo in the 380EZ and they got consistent >13" penetration in gel with full expansion. Getting full penetration and expansion in a 380 has generally been difficult. The EZ has a longer than average barrel for a 380, which helps.
Welcome Gregory246 to the forum. We’re glad you found us.
My Loving Wife had a S&W M&P Shield Compact but did not like the multiple steps required for takedown. She traded it in at Gander Mountain for a Beretta PX4 Storm Compact.
It’s actually pretty smooth in my opinion. Regardless there will be that recoil but it’s really not that bad.
Can’t hate, S&W is my carry but down deep Glock is my preferred on duty gun.

EDT - Every Day Training
Dude those are sweeeet where can I source a kit like that for different colored accessories??
Those are training guns - red is SIRT107 (laser gun), black is a M&P40 6mm BB (airsoft gun).
I sold my EDC M&P9 2.0 and M&P 22 C, but I’m still using those for training.
For real M&P guns, you cannot do much color changes - Black, FDE and silver only.
When my daughter, got her training and her Concealed Carry Permit. We bought her a S & W .380 Shield EZ. I’ve shot it. Negligible recoil, nice trigger. When my grip starts to fade I will get one of the EZ’s I am pretty sure.
Help me out here since I’m still kinda new to the gun world. Whenever I take my M&P 9Shield to the range, the front desk usually checks the gun out. Then they admire it you know and then start giving recommendations like “bro you gotta try these types of trigger for better feel” yada yada you know. But now it’s circling around my head lol. I’m not ganna lie I’m more of an aesthetics person than a result person. Help me understand triggers and “upgrades”
I’ve changed triggers in my every M&P pistol I owned. I never liked original M&P triggers.
APEX is the best replacement on the market. It gives nice and smoother trigger pull and lower the trigger weight pull by 0.5 - 1 lb.
Which one you like to use is your personal preference. I always go with flat face trigger, but only because I feel it better than curved one.
