Never Never Ever shoot someone in the back as they are making a retreat. Even if you’re a cop.

I would shoot someone in the back if they are still shooting people as they retreat. Just sayin

Taken 2 cpl classes in 2 different states. They tell you that in the first hour or so. Bad shoot and the cop has to pay for it

Im sure there are a few scenarios where it could be justified, generally though, its not a smart thing to do

The investigation found that Valenzuela was not armed and “no gun was ever found.”

Just saying, when I was growing up in the 50’s and 60’s, a cop only need say “stop or I’ll shoot” and they meant it. Remember “It’s a wonderful life” when Ward Bond emptied his weapon at Jimmy Stewart as he ran from his house? My dad made it a point to drive that scene home, as did many other parents. A close relative was joy riding in the late 50’s, got stopped, ran and took a .38 round in the arm going over a fence. There was respect/fear of law enforcement back then. If you wonder what happened to that respect, this case, and too many like it, testify as to why it had eroded.

I’m wondering what was the other name Fernando Venezuela used five years ago, during first stop… Manuel Colombia? :upside_down_face:

That in itself is still a deadly threat still engaging on retreat, the threat must be stopped.

Looks like $$Cha-Ching$$ lawsuit and Valenzuela will be a happy camper!

The “fleeing felon” rule ended somewhere in the late 70s or early 80s, when the Left got enough political power to give criminals government-granted rights above law-abiding citizens.

I think there should be an imminent threat of death or grave bodily harm to use deadly force.

The fleeing felon rule surmised that a fleeing felon is a danger to society and the safest thing to do is to stop the threat before another crime is committed. Apparently enough people believed that letting them run to commit more crime was the “nicer” thing to do, not the best nor lawful action.

They are still a threat. We shoot to stop the threat.
