Someone buy a toy?
Strange happenings!
Russia just one-upped China, they sent a Spy Tank!
Right? Why fly over at 60K feet when you can see stuff at ground level?
Maybe we promised Ukraine something in return for the tank to study?
$80 billion plus and counting. Pretty good deal for Ukraine for 1 tank!
You’ve got it all wrong! We would never accept the tank for what has already been done for them. We’re going to give something in addition to I would bet.
You’re right. Probably another $80 billion. Though Ukraine will be throwing in the chance for WW3 and/or the Russians knocking out the entire US electric grid with a computer virus for free:(
Amazon Deal of the Day?
Actually it is believed it belongs to a private owner.
Maybe they are “prepping”
I read elsewhere it is going to Army Proving Grounds at Aberdeen.
It better be. If this is private owner (other than the shipping co., temporarily), reasonable but uneasy question is - what else can Ukrainian Military sell.
Shortly after the Soviet Union collapsed, I was traveling in Tampa and saw a sign advertising tours of a Soviet missile attack sub at the harbor. I took the tour and asked the owner/operators “So how did you get this sub?” Lots of “humma, humma” later and it seemed that Soviet generals and admirals, because they had not been paid, resorted to selling high-tech hardware.
All that hardware sent to Ukraine, Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, etc, etc, does not self-destruct when the winds of war change but finds its way out the control of responsible agencies.
I met a man who had a huge tank collection that he let me see. He wasn’t particularly wealthy, but his tanks paid for themselves when he leased them out for movies and other types of productions. If you’ve seen movies with tanks in them made after about 1980, you’ve probably seen at least one of his tanks.
That’s immediately who I thought of when I saw this story. He’s dead now, but I know there are other collectors out there. Some of them might just be rich people looking for that one thing their neighbor doesn’t have.
Given the growing potential for another summer of discontent maybe it’s just someone looking for a sturdier vehicle for their commute to the downtown office?
An armored vehicle isn’t a bad idea if you’re driving through downtown Chicago.
I would love to meet someone who does have an actual tank collection.
Always enjoy seeing those steel beasts up close.
Ah, going to Aberdeen. Good.
