Review Your Concealed Carry Firearm

I remember those bad old days, fortunately, mine was 92 and came with two 15rd magazines. Lucky timing.

My EDC is a Glock 43. I like the compact size and the ability to put rounds on target. It has never missfired, jammed or stovepiped and I have put over 2500 rounds easily through it. I train with it regularly and would recommend this to anyone.

I have a few other weapons I carry every now and then, including a Glock 19X, Walther PPX and now a Sig P320. They all have their great points and I love shooting them all. Given my smaller size, it is just easier to carry the G43.

I have to say this is an awesome place to talk about weapons, and issues facing the individuals who carry, and even the ones who don’t.

I know… I felt in love with EDCx9 at first sight. I’m 1911 fan, but like high capacity magazines.
I had a pleasure to shoot it once, and since that it was on my “must have” list.

It would as easy to conceal as my NAA.32 Guardian, run and operate like the P938, be as accurate as my Buckmark target pistol, and throw a .44or .45 slug😏. Not likely to happen, but one can always dream…

Love my P365 and something will really have to blow me away to get me away from it. The way I have to dress on a daily basis makes it difficult to carry anything larger. My wife and I both own and carry one daily. She’s had hers since they first released and I broke down and replaced my Glock 26 several months ago with one. Issues with the P365 have been well documented. We have yet to have any issues with either of them, with each gun cycling well over 1K rounds. Ultra reliable, easy to carry, and very good shooters. Accessories are easy to find. I carry daily in a Blackpoint Tactical Mini Wing IWB and it rides so well from the start of the day until it goes off later in the evening. The ability to have 10+1 in such a small package and a 12 round backup solves my capacity driven OCD issues. Seriously considering purchasing a third, I like it that much.

My son loves his and has been trying to convince the old man to try one. I too am impressed with the firepower in a small package. My current CCW’s are my Sig 938 and my .45 XDS. Both very good pieces, yet neither punches all the right buttons for me. May have to try the 365. How do you find the trigger? I primarily pocket carry ( in a Mika holster) and am a bit concerned about overly light triggers on a striker fired weapon w/o a safety. XDS has a trigger pkg installed and is a touch over 5 lbs ( but it has grip safety). Sig has a great trigger, but of course is has a manual safety.

I really like Sigs striker fired triggers. There no Walther or HK but pretty nice in my opinion. I do not feel like they’re to light at all, but they did just release a manual safety 365.

Just sprung for a new P365 NRA edition-3 mags included, 2 ten rd and one 12. Nice little pistol, very nice trigger. After I’ve put a couple hundred through it if I’m happy with reliability and accuracy it will become the daily carry piece.

My EDC firearm is the Ruger LC9s and I absolutely love this little pistol!! It is the perfect size for carrying concealed IWB for my body build. The trigger pull weight is comfortable to send rounds out of the muzzle and it has not been picky yet about the diet of rounds that I feed it. It has a manual safety, which is a plus for me, as well as a trigger safety. The magazine is made with a pinky finger extension on it so you have a position for your pinky finger for your grip on the pistol. This was an added plus for me since I have pudgy fingers and don’t like my pinky hanging off the bottom of my pistol grip.

I give mine a 4 due to its capacity 7+1/8+1 but its reliability, shooting ability, aiming ability, comfort, recoil, ergonomics etc. other than that i would’ve given it a 5 star. I can live with my M&P shield 2.0 9mm

You cannot go wrong with M&P. Series 2.0 is almost perfect :ok_hand:

My EDC is an M&P M2.0 9mm 4.25 fs. I gave it 5 stars… overall fit and functionality are close to perfect, but I don’t care for the white dot sights and personally think the front serrations could be a little bigger. I replaced the front sight with a fiber optic. I love the aggressive grip texture, the trigger is good, low recoil, and it’s more accurate than I am.

I gave my carry gun 4 stars. I love my S&W shields, and I have no intention of switching, BUT I am aware they have their disadvantages.

Right now, I carry S&W Shield 45. I think, if you want to carry .45, the Shield 45 may be the best option. It’s polymer, so it’s light for a 45 and it’s easier to carry. Larger 45 carry guns only give you on average 1 extra round. It’s also a very thin gun and it’s easy to conceal.

My other carry gun is the PC Shield 9. I usually carry my 45, but my 9 gets carry time occasionally too. BUT for its size you could get more gun. I bought this gun 3-4 years ago and at the time, it was definitely one of the best carry guns on the market. These days you can get a P-365, hellcat, or a Glock 43x with aftermarket (but good quality) 15 rd mags. The shield 9 is limited by its capacity compared to other guns, and its far from the smallest gun for what it carries! BUT I think it’s a very shootable gun for its size. It was a great first gun because the butt of the gun with 8 round mags allows for a decent grip on the gun, and the 9mm doesn’t kick too much. SO I would still recommend this gun today for a new CC gun because it’s a small-thin overall low profile gun that is easy to conceal (I wear shorts and a T-Shirt %99 of the time to conceal both of these shields. I rarely have to dress around them.) BUT it’s also not a difficult gun to learn and shoot for the first time. There are better guns to learn on for a beginner, but they are not as easy to conceal. Shield has a really great balance for this imo. I think your average person could put a couple hundred rounds down range and be proficient enough to defend themselves within the typical ranges for self defense. As they get better, they’ll find the gun to be extremely accurate. They’re also have an extremely viable EDC gun.

On top of that, my S&W always go bang, they are under a life-time warranty with good customer services, and they are affordable.

I feel odd rating my P238 because while it works great for me, it might be a horrible firearm for someone else.

All I can objectively say is that it’s one of the smallest pistols I could find and I’ve never had a single malfunction.

And actually your rating is great, because the P238 works for you and you never had single malfunction… :ok_hand:

The. Ruger LC9s. I have 3 other CC pistols. A Glock 46, Walther CCP & S&W bodyguard 380. The Ruger is smaller so I simply put a thick Packmyer grip sleeve on it. I use a Fobus paddle holster mostly. It is OWB but the gun sits high & is easily concealed with a tshirt. I use an IWB & pocket holster when the paddle holster is not appropriate. I have tritium sights & shoot it every other weekend with other pistols. I’ve carried it for 4 years now. It’s accurate, does NOT malfunction with Hornady 115gr critical defense ammo. My range ammo is Tul. The trick to this pistol is to firmly grip it & practice shooting often. It took a few weeks to be comfortable with it but I love this pisto

My EDC , concealed carry, is always one of four options depending on situational needs and my slender frame. For 90% of my EDC it is a springfield XDS in .45 caliber. It gets 5 stars from me. It’s one of a very few .45 caliber carry guns that can be comfortably carried all day, every day, on a body like mine with very good concealability. It’s reliability has been superb with everything i have tried in it, and it is both accurate and controllable with a good fit to my hand and good instinct pointing characteristics. That is followed by a Glock-43, it gets virtually identical praise while the concealability goes up a small notch in exchange for the 9.mm compromise. The fit to had and operation for training purposes is basically a duplication of the XDS. It also gets 5 stars. This is followed by a S&W Airweight .38 special that gives me the best concealability i can manage in a caliber i feel comfortable with, while an excellent gun, the downgrade in capacity and reloading speed, as well as the difficulty with carrying reloads, lead me to rate this at 4 stars. It is also the best naturally pointing handgun for my hands. Finally ( try not to laugh too hard ) There is a fourth option where concealability is such a challenge that it’s either an NAA 22. mag sidewinder, or it’s nothing at all. The situations that call for it also, usually, mean it has to be carried in an ankle holster or front pocket where access is difficult. The reload question gets even worse as they are cumbersome and slow to reload . As a carry option i give this type of carry gun only 2 and a half stars in general. However, for those times and places where it has been the only viable option, it was a real gem, because, for me, the rare situations that sent me looking for the option, always seem like some of the most vulnerable times as well. It is of good quality, and quite reliable for the 5 shots you get when you would otherwise have zero. So for it’s ability to be there with five shots, that will be effective if placed right, it gets 4+ stars

My current EDC is a Sig Sauer P320 compact in 9mm. I got an amazing deal on it and it was my favorite weapon after trying many through range rentals. Since I purchased it I have installed an Apex Flat Advanced trigger and Trijicon HD night sights. I also have acquired an “X Compact” grip for it from Sig, and I love the feel of both the factory and the “X” grip. My favorite aspect of the gun is Sig Sauer’s modularity. I love that I can swap slides, grips, Barrels, or even change calibers in a matter of minutes, since Sig uses a universal serialized “Firing Control Unit” that can be used on three different calibers and many different grips, all without having to go through an FFL process multiple times. It’s incredibly accurate and reliable, and I have had zero malfunctions after 3,000 total rounds to date. I love this weapon and trust my life to it, and I have every confidence that it will perform wherever necessary. Carry ammo is 147 grain Federal HST +P tactical ammo and range ammo is Sellier & Bellot 115 grain FMJ. I’ve picked up a few different holsters for different applications so that I can carry it anywhere and while doing anything. I highly recommend this firearm.
