Red dot sights in court

I’ve never seen that and have no idea if he ever has, it’s just one of the things he says to me when I’m not carrying, he gives me a hard time when I don’t. He does no matter what, where or anything he will have one on him. He has a custom made holster for every gun he’s got as some big holster maker and him are friends, Hawg holsters I think and he’s buddies with that guy that made those sights long ago Novak he’s got his shop up in Parkersburg near here but IDK if he’s still around or what, but my son said you could be changing a flat tire in front of his shop and you’d never know it was there . I don’t see him but once a month anymore if that because he’s retired from the Gummitt and all it did was turn him into a full time babysitter but he doesn’t want anyone else to watch his son . Last time I saw him he was carrying aS&w ( can’t see what I’mtyping again, I hate that. But what I was wanting to say is I think he’s been c XL or something, has three letters, it’s a small 9 mm that’s built similar to a 1911. See y’all I can’t text like this i

Roger that ! That’s it man. He seems to like it and for the grip I paid for that thing he should. I liked the 2+ magazine it came with, it tucks right in again this heel cut out of an affair like the other one does, I think I shot it once or twice, it seems ok. I can’t hardly go shooting anymore for so many different reasons I can’t even begin to mention them. I have to many guns because all they are doing is collecting dust and every time I mention cleaning out the stock like I did once before because I had 28 different calibers but wish I would have not done it.

I thought when you carry the gun should already be charged? I only do that when they have a good SA/DA trigger.

@Mark712 , there were few discussions about it, check these threads:

Let’s focus on RED DOT and COURT…

James Reeves just did a great video on accessories that are problematic in a defense shooting situation, check it out…

I’m done with the red dot crap , like the old cliche goes “ if it feels good do it “ can’t argue a point when there is no right or wrong answer. As far as new gunners and a round up I always recommend if asked that if they are not familiar with firearms start out with a revolver and nevermind the mall ninjas with their “ well what if I need 15 rounds, never know” IMHO I think it’s almost a crime to hand a new beginner a Glock.

Thx God… no word about single case with red dot. :v:

He brought a brilliant idea … what about a quick deattached red dot ?
:joy:

Lol, I live in the land of coyotes, bobcats, wild dogs, and bears, as well as the random person wishing me ill intent. If I see a coyote while I’m walking the dog, you think I’m waiting till it’s in “EDC” range and trying to eat my dog? Absolutely not. The reality you live in is not always the case for everyone.

I can sure agree on that.

I didn’t wanna whip this dead horse anymore but one of the two points I wanted to make I just saw a video by this guy named James Reeves ( I think) and he put this video out six days ago and he will tell you about accessories in court and and I’m talking about ammo and everything including a punnisher skull on the dust cover of a cops AR . It’s getting crazy out there and I ain’t about to go to prison just for the sake of a cool looking attachment like an added sight. I would like some of you to see that video, I’m sorry I don’t know how to bring it up but the stuff just on my phone cause it knows what you watch

That’s it, I can’t read and watch it all. If I do it early I can but later in the day my eyes are worn out and I’m to busy. But it’s just not worth it to me. I’ve got ammo that looks like a drill bit or something and I’d like to carry but I don’t.

Here’s detailed article on Greenwood Mall good guy stops bad guy incident … https://www.concealedcarry.com/justified-shooters/details-of-indiana-mall-shooting/

… No info on whether good guy’s handgun had a RDS on it but his accuracy (8 of 10 shots hit bad guy) was outstanding, especially under such dynamic circumstances. Also, the good guy hit no innocents.

Another thought about the Greenwood Mall incident: it was reported that the Bad Guy had a (big) backpack with (3) guns and mucho ammo in it … No reports yet about what the knife-wielding suspect in the recent Traverse City Walmart had in his huge green backpack.

… Recall the backpacks with the pressure cookers that the bad guy had in Boston

Isn’t it time to follow the advisory: “If you see something (unusual, suspicious) say something.” ??

Most if not all college football stadiums do not allow backpacks inside, so why should Malls or stores?

Red Dot Sights wouldn’t cause nearly as much of a headache for a person’s defense attorney in a justified self-defense shooting as would Signs, Shirts or Bumper Stickers that express the defendant’s eagerness to shoot another person. A few examples:

Red Dot Sights don’t cause anything in court these days. Optics became a standard and using these as an argument only shows lack of knowledge.

Agreed that the RDS is more mainstream today. That being said I can see an aggressive prosecutor using a jury’s ignorance of them as a way to strengthen his case.

Having an expert witness to educate the jury available would most definitely be a good idea me thinks.

If a red dot helped one save someone’s life, I think you should do well in court. If it helped someone murder not so good.
