Let me see
reasons to carry

Hmmm

It is my RIGHT to carry.

“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed”.

He who controls the word
. We regular old reasonably normal American Citizens that covet, own, carry, shoot
. firearms have been labeled. We are Extreme MAGAit’s, We are lunatics, We are Red Necks etc. The real world facts about American Citizens with guns have been removed, hidden, buried and exchanged for crap like “guns kill our kids” type of narratives.

I have seen signs that the world is seeing it our way. I think we are making a difference. Don’t give up yet.

We see it on here occasionally. “I don’t want anyone to know I own a gun
” folks that feel they need to sneak around and hide in plain sight. Then I for one but others I know, you go to there house you will see a firearm or at least obvious evidence that they are there. I’m not about broadcasting it, I’m about normalizing it.

A work friend of mine is a 10 year Army combat vet. His home office has a wall full of various patriotic memorabilia, including an antique flintlock pistol. During a zoom meeting once someone complained that there was a gun visible in the frame. Now it’s gone from his wall. Sad.

Greetings, @Mike164, it’s been a while. Glad you are well and still an integral part of this forum.
Normally, I’d just agree, but while reading your post it appears that you didn’t say all that you wanted to say here. So, I thought I’d wait til you finished. Then again, maybe it’s me. At any rate, good to see your post.

Not knowing the specific reason for your friends’ rearrangement of his war wall; it’s sad when societal pressures cause one to acquiesce to its will. Rarely does anyone win a social media argument. So, what do you do? In this case, depending on the purpose of his zoom meeting, it just may have been the prudent thing to do in order to forward or achieve his overall agenda. Just maybe.

I think people are hesitant to let people know they carry is they don’t want to be punished for their good deeds.

or could it be that depending on their status or stature in the community of their influence, it could have negative impact as far as perceptions are concerned? Today, we live in a world of perceptions, and social media is a major force. People tend to be more concerned about “likes and followers” on social media because that’s where they live their lives and is what influences their behavior. If your circle of friends (screen friends) are “anti” this or that, which may be a factor, perhaps it’s time for new ones?! But at its root, concealed carry is just that, “concealed.” You don’t know and I ain’t telling! And with your real friends, you ain’t gotta!

Concealed

  1. impossible or nearly impossible to see; imperceptible by the eye.

If you see my gun printing through an opaque covering ( shirt) my gun is still concealed.

And you haven’t seen my gun,
you have a suspicion or a reasonable belief that I may have a gun, but that’s all you have by some outline of something you perceive through a shirt.

It is no longer concealed when you actually see the actual weapon.

Certainly CC is private and should be private. I speak more about, I will talk guns in a general conversation, not denieing either the good or the bad. Guns are out there they are normal, their mere existence is not evil.

You’d probably be surprised at the number of those who don’t know that!

In 2020 firearms sales increased considerably. The buyers were Black/Afro-Americans. The focus now is on safety and security; not name calling.

I have been told a number of times that if you are ever attacked with deadly force or with the threat of great bodily injury, it will probably happen when you don’t expect it. It probably won’t be in that ‘bad neighborhood’, or on your walk passing a weird neighbor with a grudge. Or when your alert to a threat. NO, it will most likely come out of the blue somewhere you don’t expect and by someone you didn’t expect.

This is why you should carry always and train for that possible day you hope never happens they say.

That is why situational awareness is so important. If it is going to come out of the blue don’t be near the blue and it won’t come out of the blue. The more one focuses on situational awareness the more natural it becomes.
