There is also a sweet spot wrt knees. If they are locked you are more prone to rocking. Bent to far and everything is thrown off. Just a slight break makes you stable and gives you a nice weight forward position (which helps with recoil). No one ever said it was going to be easy.
That actually never worked for me. I’m guessing each of us has a different body, mass and muscles ability… in my case I have to have about 6 inch gap between left toe and right heel lines, plus my feet are wider than my shoulders.
This stance works the best for me.
Full stability and mobility, great recoil absorption.
Learning to shoot well is a journey with (hopefully) a happy ending.
150 down range doing various things. One thing is I can’t hit the broad side of a barn at 20 yards. But 12 yards and in you’re mine.
.
Discovered something interesting. The above target I was switching 2 mags with the TP9 and 2 mags with the Mete. The Mete mags would fit the TP9 it wouldn’t seat properly nor feed a round. Still had to use the mag release to get the mag out but no loading of a round. Same the other way around.
Edit: I definitely like the TP9 over the Mete.
Mine isn’t a micro with a 4.9” barrel.
Today! Silhouette is mine. The small target at the bottom is someone else’s. The white spots are the light shining through from the back of a shot up background. Shot my 9m and my 380. Even did some rapid point and shoots and was still on target. The one near the 3 at the bottom was intentional! lol not kidding.
WOW, Good Work.
@Mike164 It felt good. Im still getting used to my new 9m with a lighter trigger. But hot damn!
I have a question. Did you aim at the circle or did you aim at the"0"?
@Todd30 I aimed at the circle/ the zero. It was all center mass. I’m happy with the grouping. Are they all on the zero? nope. When I do point and shoot, it is more generic but aimed at the center. Does that make sense?
@Wanda3 , did you notice, most of hits are on the left from center line?
I’m wondering if you know the reason?
It’s always a good idea to analyze, find the problem and correct it.
What was the distance you shot from?
@Wanda3 We are not picking on you about your shooting. Even if I can get pointers at improving, I will take the advice. Now, with your point shooting, your basics in shooting will be amplified. Meaning, if you are holding your gun off then you will have shots that are not consistent or centered. If you have your trigger pull off or you are not isolating your finger it will affect your shooting. When I go to the range and I have a bad day, I still learn a lot. The last time I went I blew up my Wifes AR-15. Why, because I tried 80 grain 5.56 rounds in her gun, and it went all bad. I even find myself getting lazy when I shoot. I get sloppy and do not hold it with a good grip.
Any way, if you look at your target and you are shooting to the left, ask yourself why? I hope this will help you tighten up the shot pattern but still, not shabby!
I dunno, Let’s just say… I’m a home invader and I bust down Miss Wanda’s door, tippy toe down the hall way and surprise her when I open her office door. She yell’s “GET OUT YOU CRIMINAL WITH BAD INTENSIONS!!!”. I smile and say, not until you give me that loaf of coffee cake. Miss Wanda, not interested in giving away hours of hard work over a hot stove decides it’s time to act. Honestly, I can’t see a single one of those shot’s I’d prefer to have in those locations on my body, I mean that bottom one is just viscous and brutal…
OH, that is the truth. I have to ask, is there improvements that can be made?
Nope, coffee cake is coffee cake. ![]()
Something says she’ll perk her shot placement up if you try and take the coffee cake!
Not that I would want to be on the receiving end of those shots as it were! ![]()
@Todd30 You are right. always good to analyze what and why. This grouping is much improved over when I first started. Like you, I have good days and bad at the range. I took into consideration that half of the time, I was shooting a new gun with a different trigger. the fact that they stayed in a cluster made me happy in general. I always have tended to shoot left or low left. Some of it is weakness in the wrist I think and a tendency to go slightly left due to the left hand being weaker than than the right. I do the push-pull thing to compensate. it works sometimes. And sometimes, I just want to point and shoot and see if I can have some kind of accuracy in a defensive situation. All jokes aside (not that we ever joke on the range), I feel more confident in it. and pray I never have to find out how good or bad I am. I appreciate the tips, so thanks. I def have a lot to learn and improve upon.
PS: this was at about 20’ down range.
