Gas pedal drill was last weekends focus. Target set at 7 yards, on ahot timer que, draw from concealed, 5 rounds on target, turn and sprint back to the 15 yard mark, 5 more on target, run back to the 7 yard while doing a reload on the move and finishing with 5 more on target. Focusing on speed, accuracy and muzzle control through transitions and reloads. Few misses from pushing for more speed, couple draw fumbles from fighting with too tight of a shirt hindering garment clearing.
That is an under practiced step… reloading! Everybody needs to practice reloading more!
i cant stress movement and shooting under stress training enough for people who actively CCW. unfortunately i know a lot of people don’t have access to ranges/facilities that allow you to train these things so they unfortunately get left as big gaps in many peoples training. i fortunately have my own fairly well equipped private outdoor range that allows myself, family and friends to train these fundamentals regularly. the eventual goal is to start doing some 1 on 1 training in closed sessions to help people train these necessary skill sets, but that is a good bit down the road i fear.
I have been looking for a place I can move to and do exactly what you are doing.
Keep up the good work!
i count myself lucky that i have good neighbors who are also into shooting. we will get things rolling on a saturday and youll start hearing the neighbors joining in on their properties as well in several different directions lol
That is incredible. If you don’t compete you should.
We went to the BLM range for mother day, no targets to show since they were all steel, 1 rattlesnake, took lots of pictures though.
Shot a nice Russian SKS, gotta get me one of those!![]()
My frustration relief for the day. I didn’t really work on anything so it was a wasted session, but it is what it is. I shot faster than normal so i had a few flyers
Nope, no waste. Sometimes just blowing off steam and shooting is a goal in itself. I actually think it can be a good thing every now and then.
I think you did great!

I think the older guy from that lane shoots target. Most of his targets are great. You should have seen the target the younger dude in the lane used for the 50ae doubles… looked like planes over Dallas
he did pretty awesome with the 22 though, so ill give him that. Edit…i didn’t see the hanger at first lol
I call it recoil therapy. I participate when I feel the need.
I agree with you and @Zavier_D . It is good to let that energy go occasionally. I meant that I didn’t really try to improve upon my ability…Today I did not. I’ll get over it though. I do feel a little better so that’s a plus.
Stress relief therapy ![]()
As long as you realize why you shoot fast and how does it go… it is not a wasted session.
Looking at the target… it was fast enough to be still defensively accurate. ![]()
My today’s goal was to work on and improve my trigger control.
For me, the basic fundamentals have always been the crucial part of good shooting.
10 yards, first 2 magazines :
then… stance, grip, trigger control, breathing…
… 1 hr and 100 rounds later…
10 yards, 4 magazines
What did you see? What happened? What was the results? What did you learn?
Answer these questions and it was not a waste.
Can you answer these questions?
It was a Wednesday ![]()
