Range Etiquette for a Range Idiot

I found a fix for range idiots. ITarget. For $99 you can practice as much as you want in your garage with no idiots anywhere around. Plus you’re only $99 bucks out. At $30/per box of 25 rounds you can save a ton of money!!!

No other idiots around… I don’t know about you, but I am not a rocket scientist…

You know, @Dave17, that’s one of the things I’ve enjoyed about this community. It’s more often been about knowledge and discussion – and the once in a while debate  – rather than the annoying poster over-compensating for whatever by calling out typos. I hope this doesn’t become a trend. Thankfully, we have the “mute button.”

Lucky cow. (There are occasionally actual cows on my range – BLM land.)

In all fairness, American spelling and grammar leaves a lot to be desired. I’m pretty sure a high percentage operate around 3rd grade…which sucks. Other countries are eating our lunch…with our language. And when typing…we really do have time to check and fix it. I make typos now more than I used to. fast typing/sending!

::Off Topic::
When I’m talking to friends all I want is for them to understand what I’m saying, if I destroy grammar so what. I treat this board like a conversation amongst friend.

No RSO it is a Range on our local WMA. But fortunately in five years of going there this was only bad experience

Hello, auto correct—another culprit.

I sent my kids to school so I have higher expectations from them that I don’t apply to others.

When I go to an indoor range, I’m mindful of people who want to be left alone and those who look like it’s their first trip. I once saw a couple taking a selfie just before they’re about to leave. I volunteered to take their picture.

Don’t forget auto-incorrect.
We may not make all the errors we get credit for.
Then we’re in trouble for sloppy proofreading — which doesn’t seem to get much attention at professional levels any more.

there - their - they’re
pie - pi
steel - still

These seem to get my a lot.

I commonly visit an indoor range but I need to just apply at a nearby outdoor range.

If it were me, I’d try to be polite first, ask which lane he was in and for him to relocate his stuff to his area.

If that does not work, simply telling him, this is my area, and for my time here, my property as I have paid for this space, either remove your property from my area or it will be removed to the nearest garbage can or other such area as abandoned equipment.

If a RSO is present, if it comes to such action, simply asking the RSO for help disposing of all the abandoned equipment in my area with a brief explanation of what happened…

The general idea is to have the RSO put the person in their place or hopefully be willing to make a point with the child and bring over a trash can so they realize, they just screwed up big time…

Oh, I forgot to mention the thumbles. :stuck_out_tongue:

Tomorrow’s headline:

Belly-bumping at Local Range Leads to Shootout

Bystander killed. Three injured. Combatants jailed. Film at eleven.

Actions lead to outcomes. :face_with_raised_eyebrow: Consider them all.

USCCA Helpline, how may I help you?

Um… someone wouldn’t move their stuff so we got into an argument,
Pulled my trigger
Now he’s dead
Mama :notes:

That thought had occurred, that’s why a verbal contact first before getting RSO to help resolve issue.

If a person parked in my designated spot and refused to move their vehicle, next call is to the tow truck.

When I drove school bus, and someone decided to be stupid and pull into the bus only drop off zone, we would park inches off their bumper, block them in, and go into the school. Occasionally an officer would come by and have a nice word with them. Some were dumb enough to call the police on themselves, etc…

First choice is to have the RSO or other authority deal with them after a verbal conversation and it not being resolved…

If a person is just left to continue on their path, odds are they are just going to continue and escalate till something does happen…

Lots of success with small crimes can lead to bigger and bigger risks kind of thing…

Have you heard about the latest plans from Microscoff? They’re apparently adding “woke” correct to Word. Now you won’t have to worry about inadvertently using language that offends or triggers.

We’re on the same weavelength, techs, per usual.

Ego contests and guns don’t mix.

I’ve found that as you age, chest pounding seems to reduce. Unless you’re a life long donkey clown I suppose.

As a youth, I could see myself and this guy interacting with maybe a mutually unbeneficial outcome.

I recall when my son turned 18, one of his buddies joked that when he gets in a fight, authorities won’t call his parents anymore.
Actions have consequences, someone posted here yesterday.

As I look back I’m surprised I lived through my 20’s.

That, my friend, is called wisdom.

Which is not so much different than existing measures influencing written speech, like USCCA redacting “potty” words, or auto-complete refusing to suggest any word it considers related to a weapon or violence.

Soon, you will be able to simply write “Whatever…about two paragraphs” and the algorithms will pop out a lovely comment which you ought to say based upon analysis of your linguistic history. This will self-reinforce over time, until all any of us have to say has settled into polarized mush.
